A co-worker just gave me his unused PlayBook 64gb. Amazing condition.

Now, it's been a while, but in the past, I have used the shrink OS concept of avoiding an OS update and only sideload the pieces of the OS I am interested in.

I am debating if the shrink OS improves performance or only reduces wasted space. Since its a 64gb model, space isn't a big issue.

Anyone recall if performance was affected when shrinking the OS?

    Nice! Enjoy the extra space.

Like most devices, the PB will perform best (relatively speaking, within the limits of what the PB does) when it has more space available. I recall that when I got to 2 gigs or less space on my 16 gig model, it really started to chug. I don't think you'll see major gains in performance with shrinking the OS, so just make sure you have at least 4-5 gigs free at a minimum and you should be fine. I haven't tried to shrink the OS on the PB, and I have the 16 gig model. I just make sure it has enough space.
