    I have a previous backup in BBB format that I can't open on PC and have since forgotten the PW to the Bold. Desktop mananger can't open because it needs to sync first with device. Are there ways to open the backup files? Or unlock the phone without losing the data? Thanks for any help.

    Depends on the data.... those old archives weren't really encrypted, you can try opening it with an archive program like 7Zip (or maybe WinRar - not sure which I used). Easy to find documents or photos.... less so info stored within another application.
