    If the article is right, the threat only applies to Android 8 and up. Privs wouldn't be affected since they only run Android 5 or 6.

    It would be relevant to Key users though. Did you cross-post this in those forums?

    Android only logs threats to Oreo and above on its bulletin page.

    OK, so it might apply to Lollipop / Marshmallow too! Now that I know that, it seems likely that a vulnerability that existed in all tested versions exists in earlier untested versions too - and those older versions didn't get a patch this month. Priv users and others on older Android versions would have only Google's Play Protect to rely on. The Forbes article didn't make any of that clear.

    Cross-posting is generally to be discouraged but there are exceptions - this sounded like it should be one. Key 1 or 2 users aren't likely to check the Priv forum unless they happen to own a Priv as well.
