I just bought a Classic off eBay. It should be delivered by next week. Does the Cobalt Play Store still work on BB10?

If so, how about the PS Patcher and whitelisting apps?

The problem with Cobalt's patching process is that it depends on Play Services, and for the past year (or maybe more by now), the patched Play Services app is behind the current official Play Services version. Many apps require the newer version of Play Services and won't work on BB10. Some will just fuss about it, but still run.

Cobalt has not updated the patched Play Services app. I'm not sure why, but it may not be possible to make it work anymore, or maybe the newer services require a newer version of Android than 4.3.

You could run just the Google login and the Play Store only and just not patch - there are still a handful of apps the don't need Play Services, but that's more and more rare. And, you won't know which ones until you try it.

Play Store/Services is way out of date on the Cobalt solution now. Just install Yalp, a lightweight front end for the app store.

It is broken. Pretty much need to search by category and that is a pain in the neck to say the least.

Not really sure but you could always try an older version. I've uninstalled Yalp some time ago as I just don't need or use many android apps. If I need one or want to experiment I just use the APKmirror website now. I do have the F-Droid store installed and that's all (besides Amazon, of course).

BB10 OS was such a pleasure to use. I hate iOS and despise Android, yet I have few options beyond that now. If I am willing to accept a loss of apps, then BB10 would be my primary choice.

If I can snare a couple apps from Android that can help BB10 have more uses, then game on. Worth the extra effort.

Yalp has not been working for me for quite some time now. I use Aptoide Lite and APKPure and I am happy so far, not that I need many Android apps to start with.

Coblats play store works fine. The only thing is the home screen changed. You now have to hit APPS than my APPS to see if you need updates. I don't know why all the grousing.

I am impressed.

Cobalt Play Store works well for me. A couple crashes during the initial setup. But starting each app again and it's a working good.

Yah, download MicroG instead of Cobalt's play services but use Cobalt's play store .apk or Yalp and Cobalt's patcher. Works great and MicroG is still updated.
