I've been using my blackberry bold 9700 as my only mobile for a while now.

I have a few friends on BBM (they have iPhones) that I talk to, but I mostly receive messages on facebook, and while the browser is almost OK for that, it's annoying, and I'd really like real-time notifications. I use messenger on my desktop computer but it'd be nice to receive notifications on my blackberry.

Obviously the facebook apps don't work on it anymore, and I can't see to find Trillian on the bb appstore which lets me use facebook messages in a desktop IM client.

Does anybody have any workarounds for this please?

I partly left BBOS for Android dual carry around 2010 and completely in 2013 for BB10 with Android dual carry. I finally left BB10 in 2016 for just BBAndroid on two devices.

For certain apps, why not just a cheap Android device in 2019, if they're necessary?

I tried a BBOS device with BIS, Torch 9860, on third line, just for kicks in 2016 and it was horrible. Whatever type nostalgia I expected was done within a few hours.
