Hi all, I recently purchased a BlackBerry Q10 without any carrier branding. When I put in a SIM assuming it was unlocked, the device alerted me that it was MEP Locked. I can't seem to find any information about its original carrier and Googling the PRD number brings up nothing. I am also unable to update the OS as it is stuck on 10.1 and does not find any available updates.

Here's some info about the device:

    BlackBerry Q10 SQN100-1
    OS: 10.1.0.4181
    Model: RFL111LW
    PRD: PRD-53402-020

All help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance

There might be a way, if you have a Windows PC.

    1) Download CFP and save it somewhere: https://mega.nz/#!jUkFWYSB!PrVDI1YNT...VAjMcJJ8gecCeY

    2) Open a command prompt/PowerShell window in the same folder as the exe file (https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...ht-click-menu/)

    3) In the window, type "cfp-3.10.0.57.exe info" (add a .\ to the beginning if you're in PowerShell). You should see it wait at "Connecting to Bootrom:".

    4) With the Q10 off, plug it into the PC running CFP, then turn it on.

    5) If it works, then the LED on the phone should turn green, a progress bar pop up in the window ("Uploading RAM Image"), and then a bunch of info on the screen.

    6) Post the "Branding" item if any. ECIDs are how BlackBerry maps carriers.

Okay, ran the program and it returned the following:

Wouldn't dialing '0' and seeing what response you receive from the automated or real life operator tell you quicker?

ECID 10511 is apparently "Cable and Wireless", which is/was operating in the Caribbean. It could be one of several carriers depending on which country it came from, though.

Hmm, interesting... The box says it was imported from Canada (obviously) by Brightstar Corp. in Miami, but I really can’t find any other info besides that.

This phone does not have its original SIM card, so dialing 0 brings up an error message. I can only make emergency calls.

I’m really having trouble determining the carrier this Q10 is locked to. I really want to use the device unlocked, but I just can’t seem to find any info. Would the PRD code help?
