Is anyone successfully using T-Mobile WiFi Calling on their Passport? My research shows that only certain frequencies work but it's possible.

I have tough choices to make. I either need to experiment with a cell booster or repeater (expensive and I don't trust the safety of the tech) or risk never using my Passport indoors in my area.

There was a thread on this from last September but it was unresolved.

Which Passport do you have, AT&T or factory unlocked?

I have both. I am presuming the ATT would not work.

I've used factory unlocked Z30 on T-Mobile 2-3 years ago. I was testing quality of network at time. I'm pretty sure I had no problems using wifi calling. Used to be able to purchase a $3-5 plan and test network. Buy prepaid T-mobile SIM card.

That is a good idea to purchase a cheap plan to test.

I think the Passport was not capable of wifi calling initially due to the fact T-Mobile didn't sell it. But then apparently there was an update (by BB?) that fixed the issue -- at least as to certain frequencies.

I had an OG Passport and got wifi calling to work but it would stop working unexpectedly,
    good luck.

Thanks. I have nothing to lose since my current plan is awful. I guess my ATT Passport might be a goner.

Without me doing anything, WiFi calling works on my Passport SE. I just turned the network radio off and made a call strictly on WiFi.

That's really good to know. I haven't run MetroPCS on my passport, but if it supports WiFi calling on the factory unlocked version that's a relief.

MMS is SMS texting with media attachment or Group texting. MMS uses data from your plan.

Thanks. OT: I thought it was group texting that was the big issue for me with MMS. My text messages all go out separately irritating people. I switched to "automatic" selection of SMS vs MMS but that did not seem to help. (Maybe I will select manually.)

Yup. I may have to sideload the app to toggle it on and off.

The T-Mobile app? You sideloaded an Android version of it? You have to turn on and off?

In the old days, the WiFi calling would activate on its own when you lost signal. I guess if you need to do it this way, it's not going to work optimally.

Nope. Since the WiFi calling app isn't available in BBW, you can sideload the old bar file to be able to toggle it on and off. I used it with my red Passport with some degree of success.

The only thing that never really worked for me are MMS. Calling and SMS worked perfectly.

Thanks. I didn't realize the WiFi calling needs an app to function.

Thank you! It's shows as not available for my Passport, maybe because I'm still on AT&T. Will check out later.

The WiFi calling app seems to run well on my PP. This is going to make my life much easier. Thanks all!

Which device? I'm assuming the SE with T-Mobile SIM at this point.
