Having read dozens of these posts with a myriad of different problems should the phone (K1) be restarted daily?

I restart mine once a month, max. But I would restart it if I thought there was a reason to.

Any android should, it's not like Windows or Mac, but let me also ask you your question about those 2 OS'es and the devices that run them. Should anything not ever be turned off restarted/refreshed so to speak? Or shall we leave em on 24/7 or as long as possible giving it sort of a overburn/image burn in effect? See that's not very healthy or wise for it is it now?

Restarting every morning also force pushes the newest app updates to the system as well I'll say!

I clear the cached data and reboot weekly. No different from any other Android device.

That's what I was trying to establish.
Is there a preferred time say daily, every other day.
I suppose I'm answering my own question by turning off my own electrical equipment at home Sky box, broadband router because they are playing up.

I do it whenever my cached data exceeds 800MB - which works out to about once a week for me.

Still getting used to Android terminology. Do you mean cached data in the Browser or the OS?

    Thanks.

I just cleared mine for the first time since August, with the phone last rebooted in December. My cache was 1.37 GB.

I don't know if the API is available to 3rd parties to control that.

Clearing the cache is drudgery like loading the dishwasher... if you don't do it regularly, you have trouble eating...

Clear OS cache and reboot every couple of weeks, and whenever the device starts getting screwy.
I go a step further and reboot using the 32 second power button hold. This simulates a battery pull.
The 32 second may be overkill, but won't hurt anything, (does take a little longer). Conite, wanna weigh in on this?

I've never done a 32 second power-cycle in my life.

It doesn't do anything more (from a software perspective) than a 10 second one.

Have this all in one toolbox cleaner but it does run more than I like it to. Not sure why I can't attach screenshot here. And has some ads. Although you can always pay for it if you like.

All-In-One Toolbox, It cleans, boosts with over 29 features, try it now on your phone:https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...e.toolbox.full

Still doesn't replace the cached data item in settings - which is the real culprit.

    You can test it.

Go to cached data, see how large it is, let the app "clean it", and then check again. It should go down to essentially zero.

Interesting.. App says it will clear 350mb and it did that.. But my cache was at 1.78... went down 1.4.. I guess it does system and not app. When I click clear cached it week to 92k but warned it is for apps as well.

This is why I'm not really satisfied with Android's "automatic" app and memory management. I prefer to manually close apps and know that they're not using active memory.

Seriously, why can't Android clean it's own cache as needed based on some user preference settings?
