SOLVED!!

My Z10 (model number STL100-2) is running OS BlackBerry 10, release 10.3.2.2836, OS Version 10.3.2.2876.

I've only owned this for a short while and would now like to install a few apk files to see if I can get them to work on my BB.

However, whenever I try to install an app, the app is correctly identified by the phone but for some reason the word "Install" at the top right of the screen is very dimly lit, almost greyed out. Everything else on the screen is brightly lit and legible.

This is really bugging me as I have no idea what could be causing this. I have already put the phone in Development Mode, so what else can I try?

I have noticed that the "Installing Apps" screen (on the page after "App Manager") won't allow me to move the slider over to allow installations (or inspect apps). That seems to be the most probable cause, but why is that not working?

Any ideas?


SOLVED!! - I appreciate all the replies - thanks. The solution was to check in the Parental Controls and make sure BlackBerry World etc. were checked, so to speak. This does not seem intuitive to me but at least I now know where I went wrong and I can now install .apk files at will.

How are you trying to install Android apps (aka apk files) ?

Visit this site with your BB10 browser and follow directions: Unable to uninstall Android applications after updating to BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.2

Reboot your device and wait for 10-15 minutes.

oh and you don't need dev mode but you do have to enable your device to install from outside source when installing apk's. settings/app manager/installing apps/enable both allow/inspect.

I tried the link in the link Brookie posted. Shows does not exist for me too.

Make sure you use your device browser and that it is NOT in desktop mode. The link works on my Passport.

Ok shifted from desktop mode but the link just opens BBW main page. No ART app. Maybe its only for 10.3.2.2876. I'm on 2339.

That is correct. It's for .2876 which is what the OP is using. He needs to update his android runtime as that particular OS had a broken runtime.
