Just dropped my trusty Q5... initially wouldn't switch on again, but then would turn on but the touchcreen is dead (meaning I can't use the phone- needs the swipe up to get to the unlock screen).

I'll go to a high street fixer in the morning, anyone else got any advice for this? Can I drive the phone through BB Link just to get some messages out that I'm unavailable pro-tem? My other phone is locked on a contract

Just need a few more months until the Mercury comes out!

No idea what a high street fixer is.

If the touch screen doesn't work, the device is non functional for most purposes.

Likely you can back it up and transfer the contents if you have a windows 7 PC.

Can you explain a little better what you're asking for here?

The screen is broken, ie no touch input, but is still working as a display. I'll get it repaired in a repair shop (high street fixer) today.

I've backed up to the PC.

I was looking for a quick fix as I have half dozen incoming notifications that I cant access- wondering if there's a way to unlock through keypad only, or drive the phone via the PC. I can't connect via my playbook (though I don't think that would help) as bluetooth is currently off on the phone. At the moment it doesn't look like there is.

Fixed, found a guy with one in stock, new keyboard too (my alt key was on its way out which is a pain as I use a lot of punctuation).
