I assume you bought a BB10 or even maybe a BBOS device... both are no longer viable platforms and not being developed for.

They have improved... their five most recent phone all run Android.

The only issue with that, is that security patches, which are very important, will only be provided for 0 to 6 more months. Same with the DTEKs.

Perhaps you should have done some more research before buying the phone.
I realize that's a bit harsh, but if you want to haul large loads with your vehicle you first find out if the vehicle can haul the weight!

Don't worry. Soon BlackBerry 10 will power your car, you'll have a second one to control your home nuclear fusion reactor. Between all these applications, people will have many BB10 devices and soon there will be 10's of billions of them - that's how amazing BB10 is.

Developers will be falling all over themselves to have apps on your life control systems.

The best innovation for BB10 will occur probably late next year, when this most powerful OS is put onto devices that will be implanted into the brain of every living human (oh and yes, dead ones too - BB10 is so amazing that it can come back from the dead!). This implant will make us all superior beings. We will worship at the altar of Chen and there will be a new meaning to the Gospel of John...

It's coming... don't worry about it...

In all seriousness, if you can, return the device. Otherwise, you can spend hours and hours learning how to get some of the apps you like to be somewhat functional on your new device but need to understand a lot of them won't work.

You'd be better off buying an Android from 2015 than a BB10 device.

    - Can't control access to internet? In Android you can restrict background access to network but if running the app requires Internet, that's not easy work around. In BB10 you can prevent app from running in background or minimized for similar control. In general I've found BB10 has better user control over apps permissions though Android catching up, iOS not better either.
    - Have you even opened up BlackBerry World? It's not that hard to find step counter or fitness tracker app unless you're blind. There are also plenty food tracking/diary apps.

As for WhatsApp and Instagram, personal point of view, you'd be much happier not using them anyways. Try it. Nobody important to me uses it anymore and those that did felt much better cutting all social media out of their lives. (Does anyone not remember those tools called email or SMS for keeping in touch from afar? They still work and just as effective. Or gosh, calling and hearing an actual voice for a REAL TIME audio chat? Or heaven forbid, meeting up and having an actual face to face interaction IN 3D? )
