If BlackBerry had provided a setting to deactivate adjusting display brightness to ambient conditions, then it would be possible to stretch the battery life further because you would then have complete control over display brightness at any moment.

The only way to do this currently is to put a small sticker or tape layer over the ambient light sensor which is to the left of the centre of the top of the screen (on all BB10 models).

It does help extend battery, even on the Q10, as brightness does dim and there is no reaction to external lighting.

A bit unsightly perhaps, depending on materials used.

For larger screen phones this is definitely worth exploring.

Since my Q10 became my 'work' phone (I also use it for BBM and for emails) it will last up to two full days now. When I had my Gmail account linked to it, it would drain the battery in 16 - 18 hours.
That is impressive. How often was your GMAIL syncing?

I am a heavy user for mail, BBM, SMS and phone. Often download 100's mb of files for review and reply. Do not use many apps. Use the radio to catch up on news at times during the day. The Q's and the PD's get me through the day. Most of the time.

Lasts the the full working day, with 50 percent left. I recharge nightly.

Basically, if you're using android apk for whatsapp and facebook, say goodbye to your battery.
