    Hi -

I'm moving back to the U.S. (Louisville, KY area) from Canada, where I have cell service from Freedom Mobile on my Classic (unlocked). Anyone know of a similar budget cellphone carrier that will work with the Classic? I'd consider a major carrier if there were no alternatives.

    Your tips are appreciated!

Would help to know what version Classic you have.... to best match the bands to the carriers or the ones that use their networks.

If it's GSM, MintSim.com might be worth a look. Am a couple of weeks into trying them out. Decided to try them after seeing a post on this site mentioning them.
They have a promotion now where you pay $15 a month if you pay for 3 months up front. That's for 2Gigs of data and unlimited calls & text.

I'm not familiar with the Classic models, but I'm on an unlocked AT&T Passport and WiFi Calling is working with Mintsim. That, plus that price might make me just get the full year when my 3 months are up.

It uses the T-mobile network. I've had no issues with signal except at home (WiFi Calling saves the day).

I use MintSIM on my AT&T branded unlocked Classic and have been for the last two months. Everything is good to go with the exception of WiFi calling. When WiFi calling is on, I can make calls but not receive them.

I don't like WiFi calling anyway and personally have no need for it. Only thing is, when phone is booted and it connects to WiFi, you physically have to go into settings and shut-off WiFi calling. Only have to do it when phone boots. The WiFi calling icon next to the battery icon should be gray not white when disabled and there should be a red exclamation point on the icon.

That's my experience, yours may vary.

BTW, it's listed in the settings menu as Enhanced 4G LTE Services.

I just activated on their website, popped in the SIM card on my Passport and calls, text and data worked without any additional setup.

To get WiFi Calling to work, I had to log in to their website and activate it there by entering a Zip code.
Also downloaded the T-Mobile WiFi calling app from BlackBerry App World to manage it. I find that "Cellular Preferred" works best for me. Only kicks in when I lose coverage around some parts of the house.

Am almost a month into trying out MintSim and so far, so good.
