I'm considering switching carrier to get the k1. Currently with Fido and I have unlimited calls and text in Canada, 2g data for 46 including taxes. I checked telus, Bell and Rogers and it seems like to get something similar, it's around 80 per month?!

I can't believe all the other carriers are charging double for the same service!?

fido Mobile Internet Rate Plan $15.00 per month for 3GB data.
I use a sip client for telephony with costs ~$2.00 per month.
So I pay ~18.00 all in.

Buy your phone outright and do what I do.
Android 7 and above have a sip client baked in which works quite well.

You will never be able to find a plan like yours again in Canada. Best bet is to stay with your current Fido plan but the keyone outright when it's available in Canada

Yup, if you have a good plan, stick with it.

I was paying 60 for 2gb with koodo, and that was the best I could find at the time.

I was able to get 4gb with them for the same 60 bucks. And I will do my absolute best to keep that plan.

Luckily I'm used to buying unlocked already.

That's interesting but is 3G enough for the whole month? Considering that its using the data for calls..

    Far more than I need.
You are paying $23.00 per GB and I am paying $5.00 per GB from the same provider.
If you are asking how much data do I use for telephony the answer is less the 1MB per minute.

Ive been a Rogers Wireless customer since the Cantel days and the cost of data and voice has always been high since 4G was launched. The faster speeds burned through alot more data!

Was able to get the $60 plan that includes 10GB of data, unlimited nationwide calling/texting for both our phones. A big savings from what we were paying before with more data.

I also jumped ship to the new $60 plan. Weirdly enough I was able to do it online before everything crashed

I'm sure there are a lot of us on the $30/6GB BIS plan that did the same.

Freedom mobile, $50/month Everywhere plan. Grandfathered.
Add to that the friends and family discount, $25/month.

Unlimited talk, text, 8GB high-speed data, unlimited usage at a slower speed thereafter. No overages. 1GB of high-speed data outside the coverage area, slower speeds thereafter, with unlimited text and 2,400 minutes (48 hours) of talk.

You cannot even beat that on the larger carriers.

It took switching to Public Mobile (Telus) to get Robber Baron to offer a plan the equivalent plan plus an additional 3GB data, for a total of 4GB, without contract at 40.00 and they will waive the first two month's invoice and activation fee. My Public Mobile fee is 47.00 no contract, unlimited Canada-wide calling, enhanced voicemail, caller id, and 1GB data.

Why does Rogers Wireless offer these prices all the time instead of playing games?

    Rogers - Manitoba

90$ for 15gb + 3gb data (18gb total) with unlimited Manitoba anytime calling and Canada-wide text.

Have a 20% corporate on top of that so that's.. 72$+ tax a month for my plan.
