Just upgraded a new 9900 to BBOS 7.1.0.862 Bundle 2435. BBW is currently version 3.1.2.42. Every time I try to access BBW, there's a popup requesting I upgrade. When I click the ok button, it re-directs to a web page in the browser with a 404 error page not found. Any ideas? No, I do not have a backup to restore; otherwise I probably would not post this request.

    Some solutions here.

Methods to install or upgrade the BlackBerry World app for BlackBerry Smartphones

If none of the URLS work any more, best option is Desktop.

Install/Update BlackBerry World app using ‘BlackBerry Desktop Software’

    Open BlackBerry Desktop Software
    Select Applications
    Find BlackBerry App World
On the right side, there is a plus sign (+), click it
On the bottom of the application, click Apply, this will update or install BlackBerry World to the device

Thanks for the reply. However, after re-installing BBW the same popup appears. Click on upgrade and the browser redirects to a 404 page not found.

Typing in appworld.blackberry.com or www.blackberry.com/appworld(from your article) both redirect me to https://us.blackberry.com/404/page not found.

At a complete loss and not happy.

What happens if you enter that URL in the internet archive's wayback machine?

Typing in web.archive.org and typing in appworld.blackberry.com just goes back and forth in a loop to nowhere. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What would happen if I wiped the device and tried to downgrade back to 7.0? Anybody?

Can you upgrade to 7.1.0.1098? The later versions of 7.1 are highly rated by most users and it may provide an indirect solution to your problem of trying to update BBW.

Ideally, I'd like to downgrade to 7.0 something. But I'll try it. Cannot understand why the upgrade popup.

YES!!! It worked flawlessly! Thank you!

Also found out that there was an existing IT policy installed, so your method worked after I deleted the policy. Must have been a previous BES user.

Your video helped me immensely. I just got a 9860 for trip down memory lane but couldn't update BBW. Followed your directions and problem solved.

    Thank you......

For future reference, there is a v4.0.0.63 build of bbw that can be downloaded from the Web. I had a similar problem, and the BlackBerry website was dead, but I found the other version, downloaded directly onto my 9900, and it worked normally after that.

Now all I need is an epub reader that actually works well on 99's. Haven't found anything great, so I've resorted to converting to .mobi files for the kindle reader.

I like Kindle on 9900 - just download from web .mobi books via my Bold or sent it via email to kindle folder in my BB and works fine.

FY - you can try YReader Epub. In BBW available.

Yes, I use kindle for 99; it's my favorite ereader, mostly for size and convenience. I don't like yreader, it's slow, has ads, and it's just one long page. I convert epub to mobi so I don't have to bother with yreader.

I like advance OS and LED, too. It lets me know battery % remaining.

Bbw still has some good apps if you can find them. I wouldn't mind a good weather app, if I can find one.

I use Accuweather from BBW. The icon is actually an update-able widget that shows current condition (cloudy, sunny, etc) plus the current temperature. It has very accurate radar and satellite maps. It can show daily, hour-by-hour, seven day, etc. And it is FREE!

Neither one is available for me on BBW. I'm using a 9860 so may be a compatibility issue.

AFAIK truecaller is not available on BBW. If you can't find Accuweather, the Weather Channel is also a great weather app and it is also free. BTW, are you in the US? If not, that's probably why these apps don't show up in your localized version of BBW.

Truecaller is only Android or IOS now according to website. It doesn't even appear to be compatible with BB10 due to ART... Unfortunately it appears that our 4-6 year old legacy devices are being left behind depending on variety of various factors.

Are there any options for call-blocking still available for OS 7 or earlier?
