I've noticed that the BlackBerry calendar now display birthdays of my contacts but it is showing a day earlier than the actual day. Google calendar shows it on the right so I now have two "events" for one person's birthday. Is there a way for me to disable the BlackBerry calendar's erroneous birthday event? Can't seem to find it...

Same here. It shows one day of, but when you click on it, it says the correct date.

Also no idea how to disable it

It's a 'feature', it lets you know the day before so you have an extra 24 hours to rush out and get a card/gift.

When I enter birthdays into my RECURRING events, I place them on the day-of but depending on the person, I have a reminder two to four days in advance of the actual day. Gives me a bit of extra time to think about card/gift. But then, of course, the darn thing needs to be snoozed and snoozed and snoozed. Setting up two separate events would not be persistent enough for me to actually do something. Hey, it pays to know one's self.

We don't count! Don't trust anybody over 46! Nobody can possibly be that old.

Hmm, I guess I've never considered putting in the actual birthdate as opposed to just birthday (mm/dd). Where do you enter the full info?

You also can't enter an usual event like other anniversary days before 1970 in BlackBerry calendar. Other Android calendars allow that even back to 1900.

But also no luck with them if you want to set the birthdate of Marty McFlys great-grandfather in 1885 👴

Is there a reason to enter or track birthdates before the current year and into the future? Well, going back a few years. But why would I want to enter my parents' birthdates way back when. Or even my birthdate which definitely precedes 1970.

So that you know how old a person is.

If you have to go back that far, who cares? If you already know what year they were born, just put their age in the calendar or in their contact so you can just add a year next year. Much easier than trying to figure age from a year long, long ago.

Right. Next to: Mr Abrasive Birthday, I could put 1930, so it would appear as

    MrAbrasive Birthday 1930

and then set the event for the actual day/time you want to be alerted. Or add that YEAR to Notes under the contact.

I'm not sure what the indexing would need to create a repeating event that starts in 1930 or 1920 or 1950.

But, of course, we all have our own needs whether they are practical or not.

It would probably be indexing for years!

Was on with BlackBerry tech support today on this issue. They said that although the calendar now only goes back to 1970 that it may be fixed in a future update.

Will have to wait and see.

    I have the same problems:
    * Birthdays displayed one day early
    * No events before 1970 are displayed

    And new issue is, that
    * a search in calendar displays ALWAYS all birthday events additionally to the correct result, no matter which searchterm I use

    Anyone else?

Funny thing is, if you have a way to enter anniversary dates (not birthday) on your contact cloud service, it gets synced down to the Priv and automatically entered at CORRECT DATE in the calendar.

This is an Android issue and not only isolated to the Priv or BlackBerry Androids. There are a few other android models knocking around that seem to be affected by this.

I can't be bothered finding it now, but about 7-8 months ago, there was a thread concerning the calendar and some of the quirks.

Well this link seems to be EAS specific and isolated to 1970 on my PRIV with newest versions Feb v. 1.5.0.x.

So doesn't seem to be same problem and as BlackBerry has the control over both apps and sync it should be possible to fix it.

[UPDATE] 1.5.0.12406 (Feb 10th) doesn't fix any of my issues with birthdays, even searching for "crackberry" in calendar still brings ALL former birthday events.

Well BlackBerry pushes out at high frequency but also Calendar Update 15th Feb 1.5.0.12418 did not fix any of the issues mentioned here.

    And others have them too:

Perhaps it's a locale (timezone problem), plz BlackBerry at least acknowledge the bug.

Hi all, I work on the Calendar app and I apologize for this poor behaviour.

We're aware of the problems around birthdays and are working on it. I will make an announcement when a fix is on its way.

Andrew. Thanks for being responsive. Just wanted you to know that some people don't have this problem. Myself included. Hopefully a fix doesn't break it for us!

Somehow I no longer have the a day earlier issue but I would really like to disable this "feature" as I prefer the one that shows from my google account (because it allows me to specify a different colour).
