I prefer the Q10 but I LOVE the brushed metal feel on the sides.

Not sure, if that is "only" a different version of the "Magnum".
The "original" prototyp had those "Phone answer/decline", "back" and "menu" Buttons.
The one on the picture has only a gigant screen.

And if I'm not totally wrong, this must be designed at the time the Magnum or 9000 was designed.
I got this thought because of the "red numbers" on the keyboard - devices after that got a totally white layout/style.

This might be the "Magnum prototype stage 2" or so with a "virtual belt"?

Idea: Stick to the original Bold design, make minor alterations, and release a BB10 device. Problem solved. Creates continuity for Bold users everywhere. From there, you can continue to build. This is something I could see working. The Bold design was beautiful. I loved it.

They're sticking with the 1:1 screen, but it's hard to estimate how large it is. The smiley keyboard will making swiping from the bottom a bit easier. I think I like it.

isn't this a really really really old prototype device?
CB initially reported it to be the older Magnum, but like Blaze & Slash said, looks more like a Magnum 2 prototype as it's got some major differences.. perhaps still made around the same time or shortly after, cuz it still doesn't look like something that will make it to market imo...

is no one going to mention the keys? They're continuous all the way across.

I wonder how this would have changed the typing experience. I also wonder if this somehow implemented some sort of touch recognition on the keyboard.

Also, are they rubberized? I can't imagine how badly they'd wear if they were.
wow, just noticed that.. that's a first among keyboarded BB phones I do believe!! even for a leak/prototype...

but as others said, I do miss the curved keys AND the brushed metal sides- still a thing of beauty to me, forget about being "modern"!

that's a good looking Q20 may be the next BBOS device. If so however it will be deeply troublesome, Blackberry should seriously either bring more apps into BBOS or dump it already!

I woukd agree with you, but BBOS would really struggle without the toolbelt.

So I have no idea what this is.

It's not a production device. It's just something they put together and scrapped.

Yeh I thought I'd seen something like this before from way back in the BBOS days, nearly questioned whether these were new photos at all.

That keyboard looks old though, 2009/2010 era so I still don't think this prototype is hot off the production line.
