Do you think the slimport will be the standard from BlackBerry from now on. Or could the two separate ports (which I would prefer) make a re appearance?

    IMO, I don't think it's coming back. And that's a shame.

Yes it is a shame. I was trying to figure out if a slimport would allow you to do both video out and usb otg simultaneously but checking online just seemed to bring up conflicting answers. Oh well if it can't I'll definitely jump on a Z30 next time it goes on sale.

I wish they would, but the industry, minus Apple of course, is moving to MHL. I'll enjoy my Z30's separate ports in the meantime.

Doubt it. It is better in the long run as the slim port can charge and play together, but a dedicated hdmi is nice

But it sucks that you can't do both at the same time.

Yes you can - with the right adapter.

I wonder how BlackBerry blend would compare to using a full keyboard and mouse and external monitor as I've seen done with the Z 30 (on youtube).

This is one of the reasons I'm keeping my Z30 as a backup device, instead of selling or giving it away, even though I'm now rocking a Passport. Also kind of glad my father didn't want to exchange his Z10 for my Z30 after all (unless he changes his mind), lol!

I'm actually having a tough time finding a Slim Port adapter here in Mexico City. Thus I'm glad to have my Z30 and micro HDMI ready to use at home or take on trips.

I prefer Hdmi as the slimport adapter does not play well with my 1080p TV.

However my Z10 equipped with Separate Hdmi out, performs flawlessly, making me think that Slimport is a backwards step at this point in time.

Hopefully we'll be getting USB 3.1 type-C in future phones. There will be some awesome adapters for that in the future.

I'm sure USB type C will be the future. Not only for tablets and phones, for Laptops too. No other port necessary at all, like you can see on the new Macbook Air, even if tablets and laptops should have at least have 2 USB C ports. Otherwise you always need adaptors.

At least we'll have cheaper adapters, as type-C will be industry-wide.

I'd kill for a Passport follow-up with two type-c ports.

I didn't realize that the separate ports were disappearing. I really like having the hdmi port when I travel - throw on some Netflix and you feel almost like home.

Having one USB/HDMI slot is better than two. What would be good is if BlackBerry provided a Slimport/USB cable as standard in box when purchased.

Agree my slimport does not always function well and I ponyed up for the more expensive version that had good reviews.

At least I have my trusty playbook with micro hdmi which holds my movies and music for some travel when I have no wifi
