Not really. I just purchased a supposed brand new device from Amazon US only to receive a September 2018 build...
Maybe because his is a Canadian supplier.

I don't know the exact event that imprints that information, but best practice in supply chain management is to delay customization as late as possible in the supply chain. So, it's likely that much of the generic phone assembly is done in large batches and held as work-in-progress (WIP) for final customization for each variant when demand is better known.

Final assembly and the OS/firmware load may be recent, but that doesn't mean the classic assembly line is still running for the KEY2s.

By all accounts, TCL is good at supply chain management efficiency. They've been doing it for a long time. I'm confident they understand the concept of postponement in SCM.

I know and get that since their value priced TVs are in all the retailers. It was just an observation that stood out to me that underscores the parent company expertise of both SCM and product demand modeling. Everyone thought midtier specs was a mistake but it seems to have occupied the space while dodging the expensive mistakes a premium spec model, in hindsight would have been disastrous.

Forget the slab, the BBJ100 is the Priv 2 !

    One can dream lol
I was thinking about the code name...Monet, and that made me think of the artist, which makes me think of a canvass, which makes me think of an all touch screen on top of a keyboard. PRIV2 but will have to keep the "KEY" name if it indeed has a PKB right?

Matt J posted in another thread, Monet painted only squares implying Passport shape. We're just going around in (circles) rectangles now.

Ah, quote was cut off conveniently at that spot (should have hit "read more" ). Oops!

Interesting how Punkt would be on that model list though, using the same nomenclature. It's not even a licensed BlackBerry device.

Aren't those designations for OS device build regulations or something?

I'm only interested if the successor of the Priv truly comes.

The Key-series are definitely annoying, repetitive and redundant.

Prepare to be annoyed unless there's a bunch of unused almost four year old PRIV hardware being recycled.
