What a ridiculous argument.. comparing the beauty of the female body to an electronic device. Talk about comparing apples to oranges.

You must have some kinky nights in ur moms basement with your phone.. no porn needed

Really? Ugly? Really? Aston Martin do the most beautiful cars in the world, only Alfa Romeos are better looking. Maybe the fact that Aston Martin makes cars that are good at cornering scares you Americans. After that comment I'm not surprised you think the Passport is good looking, you probably think Rihanna, Beyonc and Shakira are all ugly.
First of all, you do get that I was being sarcastic right?

Secondly, Alfas aren't even close to being as good looking as Astons.

Thirdly, if you've read any of my posts you'd know that I think the Passport is, in no uncertain terms, hideous.

So the rule now is everyone can share their opinion here so long as it is purely supportive of BlackBerry and what they are doing? A delusional utopia where BlackBerry is perfect and reigns supreme.

It's BlackBerry's inability to accept criticism that got there here in the first place and knocked them off their thrown.

Nope that's not the problem. The problem is when people criticize but don't say why?. Is it based on personal opinion, knowledge about the product or you just want to let out the fact you are negative but you don't know why. Its like saying the passport is ugly garbage. It ma y very well be but support your argument with some facts otherwise its just a personal attack with no basis.hey I think the iPhone is garbage but if I don't say why I feel that way then my argument means nothing. So yes blackberry can accept criticism but only if their is some merit to it. The phone hasn't even been released and people are saying its horrible. Guess what the last time I heard that it was about another phone that came out some time ago it was the original Samsung galaxy guess what almost wpeveryone was wrong about it.

Your argument falls apart when you say people are saying it's ugly without it being released, guess what people who have to gift of sight don't need it in there hand to see it's ugly they just look at the pictures.

Let's face it when it's out in the shops it'll be the looks of the phone that'll either attract people to be interested in buying in or turn people away. I fear it's most likely going to be the latter

What chen was thinking was simple, "BlackBerry needs to produce a device that will get the attention of the market and hopefully sell a bunch"

Consider the "get attention" part successfully completed with flying colours.

The get attention part isn't successful yet. The only attention it has so far is from BlackBerry faithful, not the market as a whole.

To early to say whether it is successful on either account.

It wasnt just blackberry supporters writing about it unless blackberry owns CNN,CNET, the wall street journal, PC magazine not to mention about 400 other media headlines. So yes it has created some buzz for blackberry and caused a short squeeze on the stock.

Covering the press conference in which the device was announced isn't the same as generating buzz.

I doubt you will see much advertising for these new phones. They will rely on emails and "word of mouth" like they have done with the entire the entire BB10 launch and will probably have the same results. I don't see a BlackBerry sending out a hoard of sales people to businesses to push these devices, mainly because I don't think they have much of a sales force anymore. We'll see but given all the excuses we see here about why BlackBerry can't do this, that, or the other, I don't see them being able to push these new devices for the same set of excuses.

Technically speaking, the profit numbers for the last quarter were due to a combination of things including tax rebates and the sale of property. They're not making a profit yet in the sense that revenues from services don't exceed expenses. I think the goal still is for them to be profitable by the end of 2015.

I'll call myself very interested in it.
So far, BlackBerry hasn't produced a phone that has convinced me to come back. For me, this possibly could be the one that brings me back. I still have some reservations, and it's not what I'd consider the ideal phone that I'd design just for myself, but I think that it will likely be a better fit for my needs than any current Windows phone (which is the only OS I'd consider) and I think it will likely be better for my needs than the Classic, because of the larger screen.

You must have HUGE Pockets then. You should wait for the all touch screen flagship to come out rather than go for that hideous thing.

It's attitudes like that that got BlackBerry into trouble in the first place. How many more people do you think BlackBerry can afford to lose to other platforms?

Maybe it would be better if you went away.

Actually, BlackBerry had a net loss of $60 million USD. Furthermore, revenues were still down.

Through some creative bookkeeping BlackBerry tried to show some profit, but that's a bit of a stretch. It was only by restating the fair value of debt that BlackBerry were able to claim profit.
