So I now see what they did. The reason the slider looked so fake is it is Android, but they covered up the lower part of the screen with a sticker that looked like the BlackBerry 10 screen bottom.

It's a render. I'm sure they've tested it with both OS's. There really isn't any difference between Android and Bb10 hardware.

Until you realize how much easier and efficient multi-tasking is on BB10 compared to Android.

That's the OS and yes I agree, but the hardware BlackBerry makes can support both OS. I have no interest in Android from BlackBerry (or much interest in any Android OEM other than Samsung, and not much for them) so I'm waiting for the iPhone event and to see what glorious Chairman Chen says he is giving his people at this rumored IFA event in Berlin at the beginning of September. If Android I'm gone for sure.

I have no interest in being sandboxed into Google. They just have to make a BB10 version of this.
What a kick in our faces if they don't.

All I can say is that the Venice is a beauty! If the specs are true I'll most likely get the Android version since I'm deep into Googles ecosystem. One thing to remember is that BB is an enterprise focused organization, so they most likely will tighten up their version of Android in order for it to be more secure than something made by any other Android handset manufacturer. Yes, BB10 is efficient, but the Android ecosystem isn't native to BB, BBM will most likely be really integrated into the BB flavor of Android, and with the Snapdragon 808 chip set all but confirmed for the Venice it will multitask just fine. I havent used a Blackberry since the Bold days, so I'm genuinely excited at the possibilities.
