They should have a Z10 S for the christmas season. Better battery and smaller bezels. How difficult can that be. It needs a stainless steel band and a low price.

That hasn't been announced, or even speculated. Aside from the Z3 LTE, which isn't really a Z10 upgrade as is has lower specs.

    Interesting. Thanks for the link.

No information though on when this device will actually be released. Just that it will be sometime next year. Also no information as to whether it will be all touch or another QWERTY.

All I really wanted was the blackberry blade concept that came out before the z10 or q10. It was the natural replacement for my old torch with a really neat led that surrounded the entire phone, closest thing I've seen to the notification system is the skyline notifications on the oppo phone.

I really hope that BB will release a high-end full touch device until the end of the year. BB need a high-end full touch beside the Passport. Most people want it. More than ones who want a qwerty... We read/heard that BB will release his "superphone" high-end device the next year, maybe next summer. But the next summer the specs of this device will not be as awesome. (Yes, I know that the specs could change until there). But just take a look at the brand new Lenovo flagship. Quad HD display, Snapdragon 801 (not the last one...), 3 GB ram, and an unbelivable 4,000mAh battery ! Ok, I will not buy this one because I'm not a huge fan of Google. But I'm not sure that customers will wait indefinitely. Things move fast. Maybe too fast for Blackberry... Don't be wrong I would love to see Blackberry back on the top.

10.3 gives the Z10 a new lease on life and is my preferred form factor for a daily driver. However, we really need a high end replacement for it. Even with an optimized OS, the hardware limitations show through as apps become more demanding. 10.3 on the Z30 and Passport flies and one can only imagine the same experience on a Z10 +.

Yes no high-end full touch for this year. According to N4BB http://n4bb.com/confirmed-high-touch-blackberry-2014/

So Blackberry kills itself. They will release a low end phone at a price near from the Nexus 6 who will be a high-end flagship and released at the same time.

    A bit desapointed...

As far as I know, nobody was even speculating that a slab phone would be out in 2014. All discussions have been about the Classic and the Passport, and about a slab coming out some time in 2015. (Well, I guess not *all* discussions, since someone started this thread.)

Maybe, but the question is who will buy this device ?? Those who already have a Z10 or Z30 will not buy it because it's not an huge upgrade. And those who have an Android will not buy a BB and they could have a flagship at the same price. Have to admit I really don't understand the strategy.

To begin with, business users who don't feel the need for a QWERTY keyboard, but want or need a secure phone. ... People who may not have been fully convinced a year ago that BlackBerry was going to be sticking around. ... Or people who want a better battery life than the Z10 offers, or a better camera than the Z30 provides.

I think it would definitely be a huge upgrade if you bought the Z10, whatever this device turns out to be.

And it could possibly bring in some converts. Maybe people who wanted a BlackBerry a couple of years ago, but for whom the availability of apps was an issue.

They have got to offer a new one though. The Z10 and Z30 were "outdated" in terms of specs when they were released. (At least in the opinion of a lot of people.)

To my knowledge, there's been no communication from BlackBerry regarding upcoming devices, with the exception of the Classic and the Passport.
Since development of a new slab phone is far less complex than the development of either of those devices, and they already have a good start with the Z30, I don't know why people are thinking that it will be late 2015 before another slab is released. Granted, there's network testing that has to be done for service providers, but the more complex issues related to creating entirely new devices don't apply. You take what;s good about the Passport, give it an upgraded processor, improve the camera, possibly with both hardware and firmware improvements, and there you have it. Bob's your uncle. :-)

I would go for a passport. Its screen is likely large enough as a full screen phone.

The 3 rows of keys is definitely a bonus and is touch sensitive. It doesn't really make the device much bigger.

It's going to be interesting to see how many that voted for a new "All Touch" BlackBerry change their mind and "accept" the Passport. LOL. I mentioned the pending Z3 LTE to someone and they started cursing. Not that serious.....well, not right now.

    Thanks for the link.

I have to say that article seems purely speculative. They have no details whatsoever. It's nothing but "maybe" and "could".

"It may be launched alongside Blackberry's Q30 smartphone by the 3rd Quarter of this year 2014, or later perhaps." So basically it could launched anytime, just not before before the Q30.

Come on. The whole article is like that.

Devices for 2014 from BlackBerry (5 Total)

    BlackBerry Classic,
    P'9983,
    Z20 (Z3 LTE)
    Z3 (3G Version)
    Passport

100% chance of nothing else. I expect the next device to be released around Late march - April but until then I doubt there will be anything else
