I was able to get a very nice, slightly used Z30, with an OtterBox Commuter case, for US$360.00. This should hold me until a new high end all touch device comes along. The increased battery life over my Z10, plus the larger screen, made it well worth it.

I think that the Z3s will be very popular as replacement phones for Blackberries enterprise customers, the classics will be for the people who can't live without a keyboard ,the passport will be for the people who want the best of both worlds, big screen and a keyboard. Z30 s will be for the mid tear and I believe that their will come out with a high end touch screen that Mr Chen has been able to keep from being leaked.

they should make the lte z3 with 2g ram and a 720p screen and sell it all over the world cheap, maybe 250-300 instead of 189

We haven't seen the confirmed specs for the lte model, they might up a few specs as then it would allow them to more readily phase out both the z10 and the z30 with one device.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they were going to increase the ram on the LTE version.

Surely it'd be easier for Blackberry to bring out an entirely new phone then to do that. Because Blackberry will have to increase almost every part of the Z3 to bring it to the same level as the Z30. To get people off the Z30 then you'd have to offer them an improvement. If there isn't an improvement then I won't be changing my Z30 for it.

It is not about getting people to upgrade from a similar device though, it would about them being able to offer a device of a similar spec so they could EoL those other two models and only produce one that thanks to the Foxconn partnership would still be profitable even at a lower price. Don't forget that these low prices for z10 devices are only possible because of the hardware writedowns that they have taken in previous quarters.

By the end of the year we could be looking at a product range on sale of just Classic, Passport, z3 and what would effectively be a z3+ with them phasing out all of the initial bb10 devices that are more expensive to produce and not really cost -effective.

Yes, the first generation models seem like temporary lines to test waters before the full force of OS 10 is unleashed. But as of now, Z 10 is the fastest moving phone worldwide in 4G segment.

I'm not sure that'd be viable as the Z30 specs are (albeit being a superb phone) now out of date, so if the Z10 users haven't moved to the Z30 why would they move to a Z3 with the same specs?

It'd be better for Blackberry to bring out a high end touchscreen (which from certain rumours they are going to). That way you get the Z10 and Z30 users moving to it.

Their priority is getting new users to BB10 not current BB10 users to new BB10 devices. I'm sure a high end touch will be coming for 2015 and no earlier than that.

I know, but upgrading the Z3 specs to be the same as the Z30 would be a waste of resources because if people haven't moved to the Z30 already then chances are they won't move to the Z3 with the same specs.

Of course. But it hasn't been 2 years since the Z30 release. Z10 users is what they should be worried about near January February 2015.

Sadly we'll all have to wait. After the Passport flops (that's a different argument) we'll have to hope that sense prevails and the rumoured high end touch screen is released. It's just a waiting game I'm afraid, but if it turns out to be just a rumour and that high end touch screen doesn't come out I'd definitely recommend the Z30 to replace your Z10 trust me you won't be disappointed.

Internally, the Manitoba isn't an upgraded Z3, but rather a downgraded Z30.

Imagine the tweaks applied to the Q10 to make the Q5, but instead on the Z30. Should give a good approximation of final hardware.
