What would the maximum allowable screen size considering the Z10 dia mentions? Probably a 4.5inch phone.

I agree that the Z10 is a very comfortable size but it could be thinner as well.

The Moto X is the same size as a Z10 yet it has a 4.7 inch screen.

Looks like you're right. I think 4.7 is the sweet spot here for 1 handed use.

    I was thinking of the previous Moto X - 5.09 x 2.57 x 0.41 inches & 4.7 inch screen . The 2014 model has a 5.2 inch screen.

If you are holding the phone with your pinky underneath, a 4.2 inch phone should be perfect. Anything over 4.2 isn't ideal. I have above average hands and I can get to the top of left corner of the phone with my thumb stretched. I think this is where the perfect phone size is coming from, especially for one hand use.

I agree with those saying they would like a 4.7"screen in a Z10 size phone. The Sony Xperia Z3 compact is nearly the same dimensions as a Z10, with a 4.6" screen. Very nice to use, and wouldn't mind at all if BlackBerry built something similar.

As I read this I am holding my z30 in one hand with the pinky underneath as you describe. The only part of the screen I can't reach without adjusting my hand is the top left corner. If they got rid of more bezel they could definitely go larger than 5 and have it usable with one hand. There is half an inch of bezel on the bottom of this bad boy, without that I could reach the whole phone no problem with one hand.

Honestly, idc what the next touch screen is. I just workable apps that done freeze crash and take forever to load like the android apps do. I really hope 10.3 clears this up but we will see.

Z30 size is the smallest I would go. It would be great if they made it with less bezel, thinner and a touch lighter.

With less bezel maybe it would be 5.2 inches.

Agreed. It's either 16:9 or 1:1. Too much variation creates fragmentation.

4.5-5inch 16:9 screen but with the smallest, lightest, thinnest bezel and body possible (without forsaking battery capacity) seems to be the summary of this thread.

But in all honesty I think BlackBerry will be going for 5.5inch and above as it seems like the trend right now. It's gonna be 2 handed phones will the way now.

I disagree. With a 4x3 and 1440 wide resolution you could run two 720 wide apps side by side and still have room for virtual keyboard. Scale it to 16x9 with bar's, etc. New resolution doesn't mean my apps have to run at that resolution per say.

Yeah nobody wants another Z30 lol. We want a new design like the passport but 16x9 ratio with 6 inches. Although the mock up looks nice...no.

6 inches? You mad? That's far far too big IMO

Anything around the 4"5 - 5"0 is the maximum optimal size otherwise it because too bulky and hard to store.

Yeah 6 inches. BlackBerry next phones is predicted to be 5.5. 6 isn't that bad with small bezels and those over flow menus won't really exist on a 6 inch device if it's as wide as the passport. Sure they can make a small phone for those who think the big phone is 2much. That could be a more mediocre phone while the flagship is the 6. This also gives BlackBerry more options to play with active frames.

Phone companies are moving away from the 4 inch model due to demand for bigger phones. BlackBerry can also run 2 apps and 2 web pages at the same time. Can't really do that on a small phone. You can't bring the iPhone into this due to apple has large top and bottom bezels so phones are bigger.

Stop dreaming guys, according to this John Chen: 'BlackBerry has survived; now we have to start looking at growth' | CrackBerry.com looks like we can get the Visa/Victoria as an answer for us calling for a "slab" or we could be looking at Z3... with LTE of course

Yeah doesn't look like we're getting a all touch slab. I'll be sticking to my Z30 for a while. Might be picking up another Z30 in white for my dad. Then when passport goes on sale in the future I might pick up one or 2. I think the apps need to be optimize for a 1x1 screen.

Okay for starters there is no way in hell BlackBerry is coming out with a 6" All touch.
If they do its likely to be between 4.7"-5.3"

Wrong again... next all touch phone will be 5.5 inches. There's one coming. Hopefully it's as wide as the passport.

For me, the perfect size would be 5" with a small bezel so that the phone does not feel big. IPS with >400 dpi.
