I believe this article was corrected since?

Manitoba is the Z3 LTE Version now.

Z50 is just that for now.

Passport is coming with 3GB of ram. its not the most outrageous spec.... the most outrageous is the fact that Manitoba isn't the Z50... its the Z3 LTE with updated specs...

We won't be the first with the 810 processor. You can count on Samsung and LG getting it first.

But by the time the BlackBerry comes out, it was be super late.

This chip is supposed to come out in Q4 2014. Phones with this will most likely come out Q1 2015.

You guys are way too negative.

Mate, it takes a bit more time than three months to build, test and release a flagship device with a completely new Architecture...

You need to rewrite a massive chunk of the OS as well just to allow it to use that processor.

i stopped reading when it said 4GB of RAM.

also, i could have sworn the Z3's code name was jakarta
    You're not wrong...just that the Z3 LTE's code-name is Manitoba.

Now it's possible that they muddled up the names of the devices and there is a flagship all-touch, 64-bit monster coming out later next year, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

I'm not saying that I'm not going to be putting cash away for that very reason, but just don't expect these specs to be dropping any time soon...from any manufacturer.

I agree, sampling for these chips, you know dev kits for these chips, start getting sent to manufacturers about 6 months prior to this Q4 date.

Q4 2014 is the date these chips will reach the end user I believe.

Right now I'm not holding my breath for a new flagship touch device. BlackBerry are focused on keyboards. By the time they release a high end touch it will be too late for me, and many others I think.

    You may have this confused?

Yes, the Manitoba is just an updated Z3.
That does NOT mean the Z50 has been scrapped. It just means they shifted the name.

As others have said, old article, and ripe with inaccuracy at that. (or things that have changed anyway)

Also of note for those saying this is a year away.. when BlackBerry says Q3 2015, that refers to the quarter that starts August 2014.. as in 2 weeks from now.. nov,dec 2014 and January 2015 mark Q4 2015 and FY 2016 starts February 2015.

I AM NOT saying there's a new device coming in 2 weeks.. i'm saying this article is old and debunked.. but it did originally allege this new device would be launched within 2 weeks to 3 months from today.

    Full HD = 1920*1080
    Passport = 1440*1440

    2,138400 vs 2,073600 Pixel

So saying 1080p vs 1440p is just half of the story..
Actually both 1920x1080 and 1440x1440 are 2,073,600 pixels - It's just 16:9 vs 1:1. For all intents and purposes you could say that the Passport is definitely equivalent. Some might even say better considering not everyone is a fan of widescreen!

BlackBerry Nova Scotia sounds pretty nice.
    A BlackBerry Nunavut perhaps? Lol
I wonder if they would name one device "BlackBerry Newfoundland and Labrador" or two separate devices.

I own a BlackBerry Nevada. Wtf? Haha

Although i agree with you on the quality of the article, i disagree completely on the time. You're right, FY starts in February, so it would be Q3/2015 in BB's FY as of August 2014.
BUT no one says FY. It just says Q3 2015, which means July/August/September 2015 and nothing else. Why do you come to think that BBRY would announce (i know it's not announced) a device for a FY date? That would confuse everyone. They always used normal time frames, as everyone would expect. So BBRY 10 was announced being launched in Q1 2013, and so it was.

Of course things are different when it comes to financial goals. Like when Chen says, he wants the company turn to profit by the end of FY 2015, that means indeed by January 2015.
