Horizontal. More real estate = Much less cramped than portrait.
I could not care less about how easy it is to type one handed.

I'm a portrait guy, but don't mind landscape when I have two hands available.

Horizontal may make more sense, but when it comes to the user standpoint, i know that myself, and my other friends who have had or are using horizontal keyboard phones, dont use it. It may sound silly but it is because of laziness and/or forgetfulness. Users just get lazy about turning the phone awkwardly sideways, then sliding the keys out, then reaching our fingers across it, and then doing the same in reverse order. its just awkward and a small chore that many dont like and we dont like chores because we are lazy!

A portrait keyboard makes more sense and takes a lot less bother to open up and get using.

RIM has never made a horizontal keyboard, so why would they try when they are putting all their eggs in the basket of BB10? theyre looking to get the legacy users back to their trusty keyboards that they knew and loved. Convincing everyone that horizontal qwertys are good and theirs is the best versus OEMs like LG who have been making and perfecting them for years is a battle that they dont have the resources for nor do they really need to win.

    I have to say horizontal.

I have pretty big hands (XXL gloves) and the 9900 is the smallest keyboard I can effectively use without doing the index peck. I tried typing on the 9810, and I was hitting up to 6 keys at once with my thumbtips.

A landscape slider would give that much needed typing real estate for long typing sessions.

I have faith that RIM could make a quality landscape slider with a wonderful keyboard

Horizontal is hard to type on one hand.
    Ahhh I see a future market for . . . . . "hand extensions".

Vertical i can hold and do things with one hand horizontal wouldn't be doable for me and not to mention the keyboard would be to wide.

Definitely vertical! Could not cope with horizontal, it's like a nintendo DS! You have to use both hands and the keyboards are always naff on the horizontal phones
Lol, no kidding, I feel like like I'm trying to control Mario's moves on my Android slider. Ugh... Smh, I'm slow as a snail typing on that horrid keyboard. When I used my 9800, though, considerably faster.

I posed that question in another thread, as I too have wide thumbs. It would be interesting to see a horizontal slider with the BB keyboard. Personally, I'd have to try before I buy. Don't forget, though, that BB has patented that trapezoidal keyboard designed for those of us with wide thumbs. If that was to be implemented in an M-Series device, I'd have to consider it.
