I put my brother's S4 up next to my Z10 and despite the smaller screen of the Z, the phones are, for all intents and purposes, already the same size when comparing the overall foot print of the devices.

Yeh they will need a smaller bezel otherwise the phone will just be somewhat bigger than others 5" phones and there is clearly a limit on how big a phone can be.

Despite being a rather hardcore Android-user a sleek 5"/1080p Z15(?) coupled with the promised Android 4.2.2 runtime upgrade in v10.2 would immediately trigger my purchase, barring any showstopping bug/missing feature I'd switch right away.

Not sure why they choose to call it a reboot in that article, it is nothing of the sort, it is merely expanding the range to reach another audience just like they have done with the q10, soon the q5 and any other new devices in the near future until they get round to about 12-18 months and are started to directly replace existing models with new versions.

Hopefully it's got that brand new Snapdragon 800 processor in it. I'd still accept the 600 though

Lies. Everyone here said that that is way too big. BBRY would never do anything like this. The S4 is a failure.

It's going to be disappointing if the device has a 1280x720 display.

I have big hands and find my Z10 a little small, but Idk how I feel about a 5 inch device. I think a 4.8" would be enough for me. I like the size of my sister's S3... Also, although I find the Snapdragon 800 awesome. Is there really a need for it on BlackBerry 10? My Z10 is extremely snappy, and then there's the battery requirements of a quad core device. People are complaining of the battery life on the Z10. Hell, I'm getting close to 19 hours battery life on a single charge but who knows how a 5" screen coupled with a quad core would do. But hey, that's just me.

Hopefully with the bigger size phone also comes a big size battery. Something like Motorola's DROID RAZR MAXX HD 3,300 mAh battery would be awesome. Since the rumored phone size of 4.8-5 inches it should be doable.

I agree. There seems to be very little talk of this but I hear Z10 owners saying the galaxy is too big. The reality is there is only a difference in screen size and not phone size.

If BlackBerry plans to make a bigger screen size I think they also need to improve their efficiency so that a BB 5 inch phone is in fact much larger than 5 inch phones from other manufacturers.

There is something to be said about the need for a bezel but it would be nice to minimize wasted space.

Speak for yourself. Any sane person who uses his phone for work would welcome a 5" 1080p screen, it's rather obvious.

    The S4 is a failure.
    Huh? In what alternative universe?

The word is that while a handset this size wasn't the original plan, BB looked at the market trends and decided to go for it. Presumably, this would be a 1080 display, too.

Because it makes no difference at all - it's about screen resolution and real estate: 5" 1920 x 1080 and 441ppi vs 4.2" 1280 x 768 resolution, at 356 PPI - in short Z10 is clearly inferior in every possible way, regardless of how their chassis size measure up.

Amen to that - they need to cater to the masses especially the high-end if they want to maintain premium branding/pricing.

Can't say I don't like this new agile BBRY. I don't expect them to react to everything, but if they can touch on the big stuff without hurting the overall vision, I'm all for it.

I'd welcome a device with the rumored specs.

The S4 has a pentile matrix screen so you can't compare the ppi directly. And most of the people anyway won't see a difference between 356ppi and 441ppi.
Where it really matters is HDMI out - When showing the UI, the Z10 will only upscale 720p to 1080p.

6 Million sold in 15 days is a failure for sure... lol. The S4 is a fantastic device and beats the Z10 on more then enough ways. Stop being so close minded. There is a reason Samsung and Apple are number 1 and not BlackBerry. BlackBerry needs to step it into gear.
