I read an article in viingo just a couple of minutes ago about a tour 2 called the essex coming out soon? I was wondering if someone knew more about it around here in the tour fourm. They said it had wifi and a trackpad and buttons more like the curves.

    Lmk what you know!

Kevin's picture was photo shopped, as he doesn't know how the device will look like. Only a small few would know how it looks like, and it's still early pre-production. When he does, you know he'll treat the Crackberry members with goodies.

Yes. The photo was shopped. Probably confused a lot of members here, considering. This device won't hit until after the 9700 and Storm 2 are on the market.

I would be done with RIM if the Essex had a curve keyboard. I think the best keyboard of any BB I have used is the 8830 for sure. The Tour was not so hot.

Could the Essex be the CDMA-only Curve replacement (sort of like an 85XX series for CDMA)? It could fill the entry-level QWERTY blackberry niche currently filled by the 83XX Curve, for those that don't need GSM. Plus, the talk of the Essex having a Curve-like keyboard seems consistent with a CDMA Curve replacement.

I always thought the Tour was the replacement for the 88XX on Verizon (i.e. the larger one with CDMA/GSM).

there is a cdma curve replacement coming soon. its the 8530 (cdma version of the 8520) which is supposed to drop november-ish from whats been said. the essex will be the top of the line cdma device when it hits shelves (aside from storm 2)

Yeah I'm leaning towards December. That's when all the nice devices are released. Q4 is the best time to get a phone. Lol

I hope it has the Curve keyboard. I dislike the Tour's keyboard, one of the major reasons mine went back within the 30 days.
