I've lost confidence in Chen. Sounds like they are going to QWERTY and that isn't a good sign. If BlackBerry's current position in the market isn't enough of a sign that QWERTY isn't what the majority of the people want I don't know what is. Maybe the fact that the two leading phones are both touch screen?

If they don't release another flagship touch screen by the end of this year I'll be moving on.

if the Z30 is the last Blackberry touchscreen, I feel like I just bought a piece of history. The thing sure gets attention in gatherings, I've been asked so many times what phone is that since I got it. A Z10 owner didn't know of its existence and committed to buying one as the Z30 is a substantially more impressive piece of kit from a design, fit and finish perspective than the Z10 was, and I was a Z10 owner for the past 8 months.

I wouldn't wait for a Z50 that may never come. The Z30 is an excellent device that would serve the majority of smartphone users pretty well as long as they install Snap to fill in the app needs.

I've been a faithful BlackBerry user for over seven years. Unfortunately, if they don't release an upgrade of the current all touch line up then I may have to move on as well. And that really socks because I LOVE BlackBerry and the BB10 UI. I just could never go back to a qwerty phone now that I've fallen in love with my Z10.

Second that. It will be a shame not getting any upgrade to the current touch line up. A high end all touch may not be for huge masses but I believe faithful like us and many more from other platforms will go for it if they build a beautiful super specced device while concentrating on their current strategy . Just don't manufacture 2 million per month and you won't have to incur losses. But just give us some thing to rave about.

Why dont all the full touch lovers upgrade their Z10s to Z30? That would help BlackBerry alot.

What BlackBerry needs is justification to continue development for full touch.

Chen is probably doing exactly the right thing for Blackberry. BB10 phones have been a sales disaster, so he figures he needs to concentrate on Blackberry's unique selling point which is a keyboard. For me, I won't be going back to a keyboard but I am no longer a high volume email user. I prefer my Z10 to an iPhone as I love the OS, but lack of a Gmail app is a pinch point for me. So he is doing the right thing for Blackberry, but the wrong thing for me personally. Oh well...

Q10 Nutter, I am truly thinking about it. Unfortunately, I am on a contract. Aside from that I don't have $700+/- kicking around to drop on a new phone. I have a house, kids, bills....life, and I live paycheck to paycheck. Besides, the z30 is bigger than I really want. I think the Z10 should be upgraded to include a larger screen(a lot of wasted space in the huge bezels) , higher specs, and higher end finish/feel. I would love to help BlackBerry further and will continue to do so as long as they continue to make the devices I want. And I have supported them for 7 years with my loyalty and purchases, like my current Z10.

We would love to, but even though Z30 is an amazing device, but calling it the flagship device in my humble opinion is highly debatable ...a flagship device is the one which beats all other models of the concerned device manufacturer in all regards ... Z30 even though is a great device...but is lower in resolution for example than Z10.. BlackBerry roots are enterprises..i agree..and many enterprises now have a lot of young or so called 30ish executives in the top management..how about creating a cool super device for them which they can flout around..and trust me it will definitely have a trickle down effect..as I said earlier...just don't manufacture 2 million devices a month to hurt you back.
In the mean time just carry on bringing the company back to profitability.. and by the way...IMO concentrating on Qwerty devices only will backfire for sure as we all know what is happening to the user base...just saying...

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope I am) but blackberry won't be releasing a Z50 or equivalent this year as their latest earnings report spoke of 3 "keyboard centric" phones. Anyone have any info regarding this?

Well as far as I could recall and correct me if it is wrong ..it was said that 3 keyboard centric devices in next 18 months would be released... and future devices would be more on keyboard side...but no where has it been said that all touch is no longer in plans..infact IMO Z3 success will instill a lot of confidence to bring a high end all touch super device early!!!

Right but my problem is waiting 18months + for a replacement for my Z30 is unrealistic. I'll be due for an upgrade before then so I guess I'll have so see what phones blackberry puts out and others. Hopefully the Z3 is a success to instill confidence in the Z series.

    Here's an idea.

Let's all wait a little and see what BlackBerry announce

Learn to be happy with what you have - and when the time comes to upgrade, assess the market then and make a decision, rather than trying to guess the future.

For me (and I'm talking from my personal experience), I'm absolutely happy with the Z30 for the foreseeable future. I'll assess each new BlackBerry release on it's own merits and make a decision as to my next upgrade when I feel the Z30 no longer meets my needs. For now, it's absolutely fantastic and I couldn't' be happier.

Let's not catch the "I need something bigger and better just to meet status quo and feel validated as a human" bug that half the iOS world has.
