You mean why the past CEO were so bad at managing BlackBerry?

No point crying over spilled milk. We have john chen now and he's the best so far to my knowledge.

If classic comes out in october its a full month ahead of schedule.

He has also stopped/slowed down BlackBerry's cash bleed a full quarter in advanced.

Signature - Google wants your info. What are you gonna do about it?
No point in crying over spilled milk, this is correct.
But what happened back then were very harsh lessons for BlackBerry.
Be it the Co-CEOs who came 5 years too late with BB10 or T.H coming 1 year too late with the devices.

Now Chen has to sort out all of that and if he will be able to do that is still very uncertain.

You also shouldn't give him too much credit for the stopping of the cash bleed.
Most of it comes from firing employees, which started under Heins. Same goes for the losses because of unsold and written-down inventory. They were already realised under Heins.

In no way does this mean that Chen performs badly, just that certain realities have already been set in motion before he assumed the CEO role.
    Good and bad things.

Given actual and in the near future technology, I am not sure that 64 bit processor will handle more than 6 megs of RAM...

Over at BerryFlow, they posted the following specs:

    Quad-Core
    8GB RAM
(it follows that the CPU a 64-bit ARM chip has to be)
    5 inch Full Touch
    3300MA Battery
OS10.3.1 *likely to receive latter OS update*
    OpenGL 3?

Along with the following road map:

    Attachment 277700

I don't know about the 8 gigs as that seems a bit of overkill.

Updated: 64-Bit BlackBerry All Touch Manitoba Specifications -
I really hope you meant 3300mA battery, not MA.

OK, I get it - you've got a massive hate-on for Blackberry, for whatever reason. But, I'll bite one last time.

So Nokia stuck a 41MP camera in the phone for no apparent reason than "we can." Did Nokia sell hundreds of thousands of the 1020 because people said whoa, 41MP - dude, I gotta have it? No, it was a total waste of effort and resources. It would have been totally irresponsible for Chen to try and play along and send out an order saying "make a Z19 and a Q22 and stick a 53MP camera in them and ... well, let's see what happens." Hell, if "constructive criticism" here at CB is any sign of things, the same people who go out of their way to rip BB on anything and everything would have started in with any or all of the following (everyone, feel free to add in other comments to the list):

-- Really, that's it? The whole app problem, and you stick a bigger camera into a phone instead?
-- The company's going bankrupt and Chen's revolutionary device is this?
-- Blackberry is so dead they don't even try to hide that they've got nothing but gimmicks left.
-- lolerz, Blackberry's so cooked Chen should make the next phone 9x13 and hollow inside so at least we can bake with it when the company goes under.

I can actually see a use for 8GB of RAM in a phone - especially in a phablet of some type, especially if it's essentially a handheld fully-functional personal computer. I have no idea what purpose a 41MP camera serves that even a regular digital camera with 8MP doesn't, unless maybe we're talking about DIY porn and you want to make sure viewers don't miss anything.
Ya, we get it. The phone hardware business might go away. We get it. We all accept that this is a potential outcome. Now, as an investor, try figuring out why we are shareholders knowing this.

Because you see potential if they turn around the phone business and potential if they sell it off to then concentrate on services?
Basically, you believe that no matter what happens, it can't be worse than now?

Btw, are you sure that you wanted to quote this user?
He seems to view BlackBerry rather positively.

The Z30 was uncompetitive and BlackBerry knew it.
Marketing that phone, is just a useless money sink.
IIRC T.Heins didn't even show up for the launch. He knew why....

You can't sell the Z30 for the price of an iPhone 5s or a Samsung S4. It's just useless.

Yes, BB10 is great, yes I really enjoy it.
No, you won't get mass adoption if the mass would get a better product for the same price, which fulfils their needs better.

Specs do not make the experience. Specs are what Android users use to calm themselves into thinking they have superior software. Meanwhile, they need the high end specs to run their horrible software (at least anything non pure-google).

Have you seen or used an Android phone from the current generation? Or even more modern, an LG G3?

Also, if Android users need those specs for their phones to work (it's not true, but let's just pretend) and they cost 600$....
Why does a Z30 cost 600$ as well, even though it uses 2 generation older hardware?

If your phone doesn't need high-end specs, but you sell it for the price of a high-end phone....
You don't think that something went wrong?

Also, Nokia uses a 1080p display, quadcore CPU, superior camera and generally superior hardware in their Lumia flagships, compared to BlackBerry.
And WP doesn't need high specs as well, to run smoothly. One wonders why Nokia used them then....

Let me tell you why: because we have a market that is segmented, from lowest tier, to high-end devices.
And what is the difference between a high-end phone and a midrange phone?
    You guessed correctly: specs.

So when BlackBerry saves money through buying 2 generation old hardware but doesn't pass those savings onto the consumer....
I really wouldn't brag about it, because you basically say: I like to pay more, to get less.

In other words, I can get phones with the specs from a Samsung Galaxy S4 for around 300$ nowadays.
Or a BlackBerry with the specs from an S3 for 600$....
You don't see a problem there?

By the way if windermere comes out with the snapdragon 80x series cpu I would consider that current, not last year or dated tech.

By this logic if there was a full touch device (manitoba) is to come out this sept together with windermere, it will be QHD (2560 x 1440) just like the windermere is, and have a snapdragon 80x series processor 32-bit with 3-4 GB of ram.

I hope that this is the case. Launching a flagship high end full touch and qwerty together will end the age long debate of which direction should BlackBerry focus on. Also it will create lots of hype in the media. As far as released devices only the LG G3 has a QHD screen. I dont think samsung will release the S6 so soon.

The note 4 is supposed to have a QHD screen

Where as Android requires less than 1 GB RAM. If BB10 is memory hungry then BlackBerry will have a problem. They should find a way to optimise it. With 8GB it should also run Windows 8.1. 8GB is surely an overkill at this point of time.
We can all name plenty of programs that are memory hogs on computers, and yet the masses "gotta have it."

To be purely blunt and honest... Specs just win people... People don't want a calm quiet and efficient Mercedes C Class C220D... But would rather have a Mercedes C63... Its like saying would you leave a -Insert Supercar brand here- over being efficient and cheap? HELL NO!

People are brain washed mainly by Apple with their claims of performance every generation, people are just used to it. People want mad amazing specs with Octo Cores and 1TB of RAM :\ Even if the phone only needed one core and 100MB of RAM...

Its just the way it isss....

Just saw an update on the specs and they now say

    5.2 “Full HD display, MSM 8994 CPU 64bit, 4GB RAM, 3000mAh or 3300mAh battery.
The chip MSM 8994 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. It will be released Q4 2014. It is a 64bit Octa-Core 2.5 GHz with an Adreno 430 GPU, this supports display resolutions of up to 2160p and also play video material in 4K UHD resolution. The integrated memory controller can handle LPDDR4 memory with effectively up to 3.2 GHz.

Manitoba will be released in Q3 2015 with OS10.4. Only with the new OS10.4 64-bit support is given
So don't go getting too excited..... as OS10.4 isn't on that same roadmap. And I would imagine that jumping to 64BIT is going to take a little more tweaking than your standard update cycle.

Same reason people buy 90" TV, today in place of the 19" ones I grew up with.... the day we got a 25" TV was amazing.

Same reason that people buy 24" dual monitors today, in place of those tiny 13" monitors.

People are visual creatures, the more they see they more they understand.

Why do people question why other people desire something they don't?
