It needs to have 3D HD capability (the market is fierce).
Market seems to be rejecting the 3D camera stuff. Or at least not caring very much (yet?).

Agree about the 4G ... as a communication device running on the latest networks is a definite leg up. Though in Verizon's network the only phones running on their 4GLTE have been Androids thus far.

No, oh god no. Anything but Apple inspired music player and store. Go Zune! It kicks ***. The Zune itself is amazing, all the swipe gestures would work perfectly. I wish Microsoft would have put some money into advertising it and it would not have ended up like HP and their phones.

Or how about Nokia and MeeGo on their N9.

Have thought for some time that BB should find a way to port the Zune software onto their phone. Take a cut of the monthly sales...Would improve MSFT's bottom line as well as RIMM's. Win - Win.

It's been the same with 3D TVs, 3D anything. Except 3D porn perhaps...

RIM has touted this as a "SuperPhone". They said they will "leapfrog" the competiton. TAT *can* provide a most amazing UI. Remember the media UI they demoed? I think what's been going on is that TAT has been working on BBX UI heavily.

The Colt will need to deliver based on consumer desires. RIM dropped the ball on apps and content availability. If they could partner with Amazon, that'd help.

The device itself will need solid specs. Dual-core 1.5 or 2GHz. 2GB ram. Graphics proc. 8 MP rear and 3MP front.

What I'd really like to see is a PlayBook 2 and SuperPhone contain the same specs like the Curve and Pearl and 9700 and Pearl 3G did.
This is RIM's chance. People want easy access to content which is the Amazon PlayBook, er, Fire, will sell so well. Then the content has to work fluidly, requiring the specs. The battery needs to last the day. LTE might be necessary for marketing.

This thing has to be a loss leader also. Once RIM can get the phone into hands and accepted, then they can work on making $. Don't forget that phones are really a snall fraction of how they make $. QNX sells its software. RIM has patents that collect $. They've sold the keyboard rights on occasion (I'm fairly certain, no proof.) They can make $ in other areas. Just get the phone into the hands of the consumer and make sure it delivers a fluid, easy experience.

I got my Pearl in Oct of 2006 for $0 after rebate. That's what put a BB in my hands. It had the features I wanted for the price I wanted. Simple as that.

QNX is gonna stink just like the playbook.
They just need to do things right instead of trying to copy everyone.
They need to make their email experience the best ever, make keyboard experience touch or physical the best and the only thing i nedd for them to make available is the apps, make app for everything.

Then get an iPhone, if apps are the only things you need.

They just need to change their mentality and stop being bottom feeders, if you are releasing a super phone catch up in some areas as a standard, what needs to be standard.

Auto focus (why not in your flagship device)
HD video recording (why is that not in the 9790)
front facing camera (no keyboard, so this is the multimedia phone....well give us media)
dual core( why, cuz QNX needs it to run smoothly
BB capability (MUST have email, bbm, calender out of the box no excuses)

4G* isn't necessary, as most companies have no full fledged 4G network, also BB is known for long battery (something the Bold isn't doing) this can be held off

2 convenience keys and short cuts for other things* the iphone did it right by having a dedicated camera button and having a dedicated way to take a screen shot on the phone at anytime. Have you ever had the screen muncher ap on your quick key, its nice isn't it? Too bad there is a watermark and you have no other quick key.

Now if you wanted to take a picture of a moment that JUST happened, for instance my friend got proposed to. I fumbled with my phone went to press the camera icon as I took the phone out of my pocket, the screen auto rotated, and I ended up pressing some other button, ended up having to close all that out and go back into media>camera and missed a few precious seconds of her moment. NOT a HUGE deal, but its something that can be avoided because more often people aren't carrying 500 dollar cameras on them, but just want decent pictures right away...is that too hard to ask? Forget all those filters and whatever, just let me access my camera quickly.

Hotspot* why add wifi hotspot capabilities in these updates? People just dont know about it, put this stuff in a device OUT OF THE BOX and hype it up on the commercial with the phone itself.

Trackpad* This is the media phone, so some may not want a trackpad, but I see no reason not to put it in (as long as it doesn't have that stupid hoovering problem like these phones have) because remember this is still a blackberry, we aren't trying to out iphone the iphone but give iphone users an alternative with a special blackberry twist.

IT BETTER BE ... if it is a single core processor then all the spec-crazed people out there wouldn't even bother looking at the device. I think by the time this comes out, there will be phones out there with quad core processors

Quad core, huh, my laptop is only dual core and it was expensive Anyway, I think blackberry do need a really good device up there in the rankings to attract all the hard core spec fans.. Whereas they also still need to be attracting the younger, 'noobs' to the blackberry world (hence why they are bringing out more controversial entry-level OS7 Curves (9220&9320). What I dont understand is that the iPhone doesn't have a lot of models and no entry-level models and its still doing well! Maybe RIM need to take a leaf out of Apples.... book. Half-pun unintentional

The iPhone 4 (non-s) is their entry level. It is usually $49 on a 3 year, and often free. The 3GS was free on contract too, but I don't think you can get it anymore. I think that having the 4 as their cheap phone is a big deal, because their cheap phone is visually indistinguishable from their top of the line.

What's the point, dual core is so last year! HTC and LG have already made quad-core phones ready to be shipped before Summer 2012!

Not surprised RIM is behind once again!
