I know there are lots of rumors out there. I want to get my first blackberry and was going to get the Tour but I really like the buttons and over all feel of the Curve better. I heard Verizon is supposed to be coming out with a new model soon (November?). Does anyone know anything more concrete or a good site to keep tabs on to find out more info?

Search for the Atlas, which is the 8900 series Curve for CDMA.

    Here's a peek.

    It's the left one.

I think VZW is supposed to get the Curve 2(Aries) 8530 in November. It's a step down from the Tour but it'll have a more Curve-like keyboard. If you like the feel of T-Mobile's 8520 then it might be an option for you.

I believe the 8930 is code named "Jupiter". Haven't seen to much on it though. I think the Tour replaced it.

Is the atlas 100% a CDMA 8900? If so, I wonder what it would take to swap over the track pad?

Atlas is EDGE. There are pics of it's about screen online. And non trackpad devices will never work with a trackpad.

Verizon will be putting out an 8530 and an 8930 in November. The 8530 will be the curve 8530 and the 8930 will be the curve 2. The curve 2 will look like the atlas pictured in this thread. It will have a trackpad and wifi. Expect the 8530 first.

No and No. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the 8930 is NEVER coming to Verizon. It is an asia market device, it is just too similar to the tour spec wise, and the essex (tour 2) should be out in qtr1 2010 will take care of lack of wifi and track pad on the Tour. The 8530 is already being marketed as the Curve 2, and that will be all that is releasing in Nov. They got the 8530 to have GPS which the 8520 does not have, and that will be the entry level device. There will be no middle device on VZW.

i'm guessing phonearena.com is unreliable then.. since it's saying the 8930 is the curve 2 and also states that the 8930 and 8530 are coming out in november.
    Upcoming Verizon phones (Phone Arena)

i guess we'll just see in a few weeks!!

That would be stupid if the rumors about a CDMA Curve 8900 coming to Verizon never happen. It would only make sense to me. And no, the Verizon Tour is nothing like the Curve 8900! Keyboards are very different. Verizon needs at least 1 or 2 more good Blackberries in it's lineup to compete with AT&T. Curve 8930 would be a great start.

after checking out the specs about this one. Better Screen...I'll wait on buying the 8530.

But this one has a trackball instead. wtf!?

That might make me get the 8530 afterall.

    Possibly.

There will be no more 8900 series phones as Tour is the equivalent for the CDMA carriers.

Ok I looked at the actual trackpad, there is no possible way to hook it up to an 8900. If the CDMA 8900 did come out, yes you could swap the parts over, but there would be no way to plug the trackpad into the 8900.

Too bad because the Tour is ****-ugly and the 8530 is weak. I would have been all over the 8930.

its too bad the tour has such a hard to use keyboard because the phone is great. I loved the keys on my old curve, what the **** were they thinking when they made the tour keypad. I wish I could adapt another keyboard to my tour like the one from the 8900 curve....
