DHabkirk is an excellent source. The I would consider this baby for a Z30 upgrade or even the Passport. Specs are great!

I like how the "bird hinch" mechanism sliding key locks the keyboard. Automated keyboard concept is neat!

I have the Passport and can say that the 'hybrid' keyboard, once you get used to it, is very awesome and just as intuitive as any of the other keyboards (if not more). You don't actually need to use the screen for typing as much as it seems, you just swipe down once on the physical keyboard and then the symbols all show up, and they are mapped to the keys so you can still type the corresponding button (essentially functioning the same as the alt key).
What I don't understand about the VISA concept and I will need quite an explanation to understand it: why hide only 2/3rds of the keyboard? I think it looks kind of funny when only the top row is shown. Some sort of artistic statement advocating QWERTY? I don't get it. Loved the Torch. I'd rather them release more of a 'classic' type Torch. Capacitive keyboard would be awesome but the reason a slider is so great is because it hides the buttons! I'm sure part of the concept is using it for scrolling in landscape mode but that's not how everyone will use it.

The always visible row is touch-sensitive like the Passport key board.

"You’ll notice that one row of the keyboard remains visible, while two rows are stored just underneath in a compartment. According to select information, the top row of the keyboard is actually touch-sensitive, which Passport users will feel familiar with. Use this static row to scroll through web-pages, apps, swipe to delete text, and a lot more."

You know? What would be absolutely killer, is if the keyboard is not only touch sensitive but also that "paper display" stuff from the readers so that the keys can change their letters or notation.

That way the row which is shown can be whatever. And, the ink display take no energy.

Probably too hard to engineer something like that - but cool to think about nonetheless

Yes! A few of us have been saying this for some time now, I also suggested that if this was to be done, the constantly exposed row could display "BlackBerry" when not in use (as opposed to qwertyuiop). Now that would be a cool phone and certainly generate publicity, let's just hope the keyboard will be up to the expected BlackBerry quality.

Toolbelt is highly unlikely. Even if it had the 4 row keyboard, good enough.

I'm with you on this. I would love to see that as well. The 9800 was actually my favorite device for its form factor. I love the Passport, and far more than I loved my old Torch, but more for what it can do. The form of the old Torch was damn perfect and I would love to see a 'Classic' version of the Torch one day. I'll keep dreaming...

The most important is to offer people choice.
There must be Z10 and Z30 refreshes such as a Z50 and perhaps a Z15. Keeping the same screen size.
We should also have a Q30 too.

    3 rows.
2 rows hide away. Which then a digital keyboard pops up for typing.
The QWERTY row that stays is used as short cut keys.

Best of both worlds. Full slab of glass and a physical keyboard if need be ='s Highly Innovative.

The most important, the device needs to look incredibly Sexy. Please nothing like the **** ugly iPhone 6 pls.

I'm veerrrry interested in seeing how exactly that single exposed row works on its own within the OS.

If keys were assigned for end/call/menu/back that would be phenomenal. Just seems kind of weird. Would need to see it in action

In order for the keyboard not being too cramped, this should be a 6" device at least.

6 device? No, I don't think so. Based on what I figured out by the Patents, it will be similar to the Z30 size, perhaps 0.2 taller and will have a Passport type keyboard with a powered mechanism to auto hide 2 rows of keys with a flick of a gesture. Or something like that. We'll see soon enough.

When the keys are hidden away, the virtual keyboard pops up and the 1 exposed row of physical keys are assigned short cuts.
When the physical 2 rows pop back out, no more virtual keyboard. Anyhow something like that.

It would be useless to have a row of keys sitting there and don't do nothing, when the other 2 rows are hidden.

Seriously, everything over 5" screen is way too big for normal use (unless you have XXL fingers).

And having a physical keys, I bet that the 5.2" will be with a size off 5.5" Android phone (G3 for example).

Not cool, but BlackBerry is the last one to blame.

I am guessing human race will not only have bigger eyes in fifty years, but also much longer fingers.
