Here is a simple way to compare the GPUs found in our devices
    Adreno GPU comparison-adreno.jpg

    For info
    Z10, Q5 & Q10: A225
    Z30: A320
    Q6/Z6 (C): A305
    "Z50" (AQ): A330

That's what I call the next flagship, I should probably put it in quotes, since it's just the way I call it while trying to make sense of the way BlackBerry names its devices

there is no sense to it, remember when everyone said `yea Z10 and Q10 make sense as in BB10? that naming convention is well and truly done lmao

Do you happen to know what BlackBerry's definition of QuadCore is or the meaning of "core" in reference to GPU specs such as the Adreno 320 released for the Z30? Is it a market "gimmick" just like the specs for Apple's Retina Display devices or Motorla's MotoX?

From what I've read, the way it works is a bit different than on a CPU and those cores might not be completely independent, but it doesn't matter as you still have parallel execution of instructions.

The GPU in the Z30 is of the newest revision and features 24 Arithmetic Logic Units (ALU) which multiplied by 4 vectors at 400MhZ give you 86.4 GFLOPS. Plenty of power, even if this was designed a long time ago.

Okay thanks. Do you think the chip custom to the Z30 like the MSM8960DT for the MotoX? I do not see much documentation on the MSM8960AB which you mentioned on the other threads and Snapdragon S4 Product Specs does not seem to match up with the specs released.

It's a standard chip (as opposed to custom made for BB) with an upgraded CPU. Check Wikipedia for the specs.

Thanks for the info. I checked Wikipedia for MSM8960AB but do not know how accurate it is. It referenced an article on an Asian site from 2012/05/23 with no mention of the specific chipset and the article talked more of the S4 family in general. All good. Just reading into it.

Yeah, the reference is strange, I see no info about that CPU there, but the specs seem correct afaict. The important bits are dual-core Krait 300 and quad-core Adreno 320

Where are you getting that info from, the q5 was previously indicated to be exactly the same processor as the q10/z10 except that it is limited to a lower clock.

I think you're right. When I started my list, I didn't bother with older models like the Q5 and got the SoC info from websites. A few of them mentioned Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305 and since that chipset was in the OS, I didn't check further.

I'm now investigating, but it seems it is an underclocked 8960+A225 and the Snapdragon 400 is for the low-end replacement which may never see the light of day. It would make much more sense...

    EDIT:
I don't know what to think when Qualcomm says the phone uses a Snapdragon 400...

    EDIT2:
Checked the OS again and Q5 is using the older 8960. Someone should let Qualcomm know...

I think Qualcomm may have confused themselves just like they did with a lot of people when they switched the name of their processors from SX to Snapdragon XXX. Kinda like how BlackBerry named their devices mainly in the legacy days. Torch anyone??
