I'm looking to add WiFi to my home internet connection, and was curious to the differences between 802.11 a, b, g, n, and y?
Are they all backwards compatible?
Does one have a larger radius that has a signal?
I concur G or N are your best bets, both are backwardly compatible with all but A (and I'm not sure what Y even is if it exsists). N is the latest and greatest, BUT I don't think it's final yet (could be wrong), tends to be more expensive, and is under utilized (mosts wifi you will find out there is either G or B). G is plenty fast, cheaper and fully backward compatible with B (and SHOULD work on N signals too but at slower speeds)
