Why do you think chose the name "Blackberry"??

I'm just curious. Are there any interviews out with the makers at RIM as to why they chose the brand name BlackBerry??

I'm interested in knowing this about a lot of companies pick the names they do, but i love my blackberry more than any other electronic i own, so im especially interested in this one.

If there is no concrete reason, let's speculate to our own:)

ok i think the the makers at RIM really just love fruit, especially blackberries!

they probably liked apples too, but someone had already taken that name (boooooo iPhone!!!)

RIM settled on the name "BlackBerry" only after weeks of work by Lexicon Branding Inc., the Sausalito, California-based firm that named Intel Corp.’s Pentium microprocessor and Apple’s PowerBook. One of the naming experts at Lexicon thought the miniature buttons on RIM’s product looked "like the tiny seeds in a strawberry," Lexicon founder David Placek says. "A linguist at the firm thought straw was too slow sounding. Someone else suggested blackberry. RIM went for it." Previously the device was called LeapFrog, alluding to the technology leaping over the current competition.

yea i probably still would have bought a strawberry if it does all my blackberry does, no matter what its called.

LeapFrog? Has RIM got anything to do with those pre-school learning things? I'm gonna head down to Toys'R'Us and take a look!

wat wat sausilitoo i live in sausilito. blackberry is a cool name tho

i think it was on CB that someone mentioned how they were going to name it "StrawBerry"...

did i make that up?

The strawberry naming occurred a few year previous to CB being around.

cuz no men would buy it if it was called pinkberry

Could it be because of the little black berry it leaves on your thumb?
