i want to clear some things up.

Paris Hilton does not have herpes. This is a rumor that was started by a certain someone and later fueled by a falsified doctors prescription for valtrax.

it really upsets me how people trash celebrities. i think that people make fun of and hate what they don't understand. Paris, is a really sweet girl so is her sister nicky and the rest of her family for the most part. Lindsay, while i don't know her, im sure is a regular girl who happens to make good money.

honestly, these "hollywood" girls like paris, lindsay and kim don't do anything abnormal that regular girls don't do. they just happen to be famous and get stalked and followed constantly. they go to clubs, have sex, do drugs and drink, go shopping, take poops and everything your t daughter does. i don't know why people want to hate on them so bad.

Paris is a smart girl, shes made a name for herself wether it be good or bad but shes made a lot of money on her own with branding and music and movies. wether or not you think shes got talent, shes got it. it may not be in singing acting or whatever else but shes got a talent for making money legally and thats to be admired in my opinion.

lindsay loahn, this poor girl with her father always talking to the media. you can tell she hurts. its apparent in her song "daughter to father" so what shes done coke, or goes out drinking so what? shes what? 22 years old? thats what people in their 20s do. maybe you didnt or maybe not where you grew up but in places like NYC and L.A. and Miami thats what people do wether they are famous or not.

so much is sensationalized in the media its ridiculous but working in PR i will say that there is definitely some truth to pretty much every story you ever read.

there are plenty of people who truly are talented that people just dont like, i.e. michael jackson, mariah carey, tom cruise, these people all get made fun of but say what you want they have talent. and remember, everyone lives in their own world. if someone wants to spend crazy money on crazy stuff why should we judge? people always say "if i had a million dollars i would still work i would still do this and i would still do that and i wouldnt buy a mansion" and its like, whatever because you dont know because you've never had a million dollars. you think you'd still live the same but you wont chances are VERY slim that you do.
theres nothing wrong with enjoying your success and your money. dont hate the player hate the game. paris hilton knows what shes doing and shes getting PAID i aint mad at her for it because i'de do the same given the chance.

^^ Translation: It's okay to prostitute yourself for fame and fortune. It's okay to do coke and other illegal drugs, get drunk and drive, expose your genitalia in public, make pornos, and molest children if you're famous or have (cough, cough) "talent". Besides, everybody else does it, so it's okay. I'm sure Paris made it all on her own without any help from her name or her family's money. It was pure talent, drive, and determination. Yep...she's MY hero!

And if you see anything wrong with any of the above, then you are a hater who is just jealous that YOU don't have what THEY have.

Wow...I'm stunned. This may be the biggest piece of inane drivel I've ever read...and that's saying something!

For the record, the rumor was spread by a close friend/confidant of Paris Hilton. This resulted in the calling off of her marriage with Paris Latsis, the Greek Shipping Heir.

Fair enough, you don't fit the "stereotype" . . . but that's a different question whether the "stereotype" is true or not.

And, culturally speaking, we forgive "youthful indiscretions" a LOT more easily than the same act(s) performed later in life.

Finally, sex and drugs aren't just an invention of modern "pop culture" or, for that matter, US culture.

Sex and drugs have been with us . . . well, since recorded history.

What's funny is how much history people never learned or have forgotten.

Hey Alex, I'll take China's Opium Wars for $500!!

These "youthful indiscretions" may be forgiven easier, but that doesn't make them acceptable.

Yes, Sex and Drugs have been around for ages. (I didn't claim it hasn't you assumed that somewhere along those lines.)

The Difference is, that it has become glorified.

It's cool to be a hoe.

It's cool to be a druggie.

It's cool to not wear underwear and expose your goodies.

It's cool to go to rehab.

If more readily forgiven, then - really - what's the difference between that and "acceptable"?

You act like there is a chasm between the two concepts when, in reality, is more like a 1/4 inch.

No, not really. Extra-marital affairs - especially among the nobility - were glorified too . . . so long as the actual act was not brazenly "discovered." How many Kings had *official* mistresses that were recognized as such? (answer: many).

About the only difference between now and then is that media is omnipresent in *ALL* of our modern lives. That's in contrast to when access to media was more constricted (mainly to the rich) and occurred at set times/places (like plays or operas).

    Oh Please.

    Stop Trying To Rationalize.

If it had to be hidden, it wasn't accepted.

If it's easily forgiven, that doesn't mean its acceptable.

Based on the fact that you were in need to be forgiven in the first place.

If you ask for a pardon, its because there was a transgression of some sort to begin with.

Why Would Someone Seek reconciliation, if they did nothing wrong?

See, I can rationalize my way out of your circular argument too.

OH- and please don't assume that I lack an education in History.

    Whatever, Lets Move Along-

If it had to be hidden, it wasn't accepted.
Louis XIV had "out of wedlock" children who he later recognized a slegitimate and to whom he granted titles. All without "scandal." It was "hidden" as way of allowing the Queen to "save face" and not be embarrassed . . . not because Louis XIV (or his mistresses) would be "disgraced."

You might try reading a book like Antonia Fraser's "Love and Louis XIV, the Women in the Life of the Sun King."

And, btw, I'm not "rationalizing" anything. I'm simply observing and stating something that is a historical fact and, therefore, *true* - that men (and women) have indulged in illicit sex, pornography, illegal drug use since time immemorable and, often times, have done so with a great deal of tolerance by their peers and society in general.

Observing that *some* people today are MORE puritanical than people have been at other (prior) points in human history isn't "rationalization" my friend, it's a truism.

    There ain't nothing really new.

For every celeb you see with a particular phone there are 10
others with something else that you don't see.

My question is and always has been, why does anyone care what
phone a celebrity uses. I'll lay you odds to seven they don't give
a damn what any of us use.

I can't imagine Britney calling Paris and having this conversation.

Britney: Girl, I was at that burger place and there was this
insurance agent that had a Curve. It made him soooooo sexy.

Paris: OMG! I know what you mean, I saw a construction
worker with a Storm. I knew he was smart and hot just by
his phone. I wanted to do him right there on the scaffold.
    Thats Hilarious!

You think you have pain now, wait 'till I go biblical on your behind: there's David and Bathsheba . . . David gets Bathsheba - who was then married - pregnant and, then, David sends Bathsheba's husband off to battle (carrying secret instructions to the husband's commander that the husband be "abandoned" in the heat of battle - to be killed by the enemy).

From David and Bathsheba (David marries her after her husband is killed) spring Solomon . . . and also, get this, Jesus himself.

Bad "career move" by David? Hmmm...

    Wrong.

Truism is a self evident obvious truth. I.E. FACT.

According to Descartes Philosophy, To Rationalize is to ascribe (one's acts, opinions, etc.) to causes that superficially seem reasonable and valid but that actually are unrelated to the true, possibly unconscious and often less creditable or agreeable causes.

    You are trying to Rationalize.

And when it comes to what is morally "Right" OR "Wrong" it is strictly based upon a persons opinion.

You are trying to argue that since History itself is deeply engrossed in hedonistic activity, that it is morally acceptable to indulge in hedonistic activities.

    That is Rationalism.

No, my friend, not even one little bit.

It is a true historical fact that Louis XIV had mistresses. It is a true historical fact that there was a semi-official position at court called maitresse-en titre and that his mistresses held this title. It is a true historical fact that his mistresses had apartments at Versailles. It is a true historical fact that his mistresses gave birth to his children. It is a true historical fact that some of these "illegitimate" children were recognized by Louis during his life - as such they became "legitimate." It is a true historical fact that these "legitimized" children were given noble titles (Dukes, Comtesses, etc.). It is a true historcial fact that Louis's reputation suffered not one little bit despite *everyone* (including the Queen) knowing all of the above because he largely observed the "formalities" associated with such dalliances that allowed the Queen - in public - to "save face" (in private, she was humiliated).

These facts speak for themselves as evidence of society's "acceptance" of them.

King David commits adultery and murder and . . . well is the great, great grandpappy of the Messiah.

Assuming that the Bible records historical facts, these too are facts that speak for themselves.

Today? Today, a President has oral relations with an intern, gets impeached and nearly removed from office.

This also is a fact that evidences *current* society's INTOLERANCE for behavior that - by historical measures - isn't a big whoop.
