So I thought that I would start a thread to see what everyone's first cell phone was, seeing how phones have come a LONG way in such a short period of time.

My first phone was a PrimeCo. prepaid phone (WAY before it was called Verizon). It was a big black bulky phone with a green backlight and terrible digital. You couldn't even fit a person's full name on there. And then, it had NO vibrate function at all. It was horrible!!!

I had a bag phone. I could have killed someone with it it was so heavy. My pearl probably wouldn't even break the skin if thrown in anger (I would never...) but that bag phone must have weighed over five pounds...

I've been through a few phones since I first started using them... But the first one was an audiovox 8910. I aleays thought it was a good phone until I started buying more advanced - now none of the previous phones compare to the blackberry!

Whew! Having a flashback of my motorola startac right now. Not quite as old school as a bag phone, but I think it still qualifies for the term.

It's amazing how far things have come in a decade...

side note: Anyone remember the rate plans from back then?

Was a Motorola bag phone and carried the damn thing everywhere. I remember I was 22, working as a bodyguard and traveled all the time. The ******** bill was huge with all the roaming charges. I still have the same cell number.

Rate Plans??? I don't quite remember what it was, but I remembered that I couldn't call long distance without paying for it. That's when they charged it by the minute...don't remember how much it was though.

My first personal cell phone was in 1996, and it was a Nokia something, on Aerial, before Aerial was Voicestream, before Voicestream was TMobile. It was longer than my hand, HEAVY, and weighed down my purse. Black letters on a greenish screen. No features. Wouldn't dial out half the time. It's in the kids' toybox now, and we look at it and giggle every now and then. The kids call it "Mom's old brick phone".
