This is not about the original recording, but a re-make of the original.

I started thinking about this because many people have argued with me on a certain song...and I think the re-make is better than the original.

Simple Man by Shinedown (originally by Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Another (re-make) song I like is "Gin & Juice" by The Gourds...but I've never heard the original Snoop Dogg/Dr. Dre version either...oh well?

When I saw the thread the first song that popped into my head was the same as Woody. Shinedowns remake of Simple Man was awesome. I also love Johnny Cash's remake of Hurt from Nine Inch Nails. Another unknown remake is Evans Blue covered a song by Sarah Mclachlan. They took a soft song and flipped it on its ear. All three are in heavy rotation on my berry.

That dudes voice is awesome, I can sing and hold a tune...but if I had a voice like that I'd even cut my hair and change my name...I wanna be a rock star!

Good to see other shinedown fans. I still think 45 is their best song to date but simple man was an amazingly well done remake.

One of my favorites has to be "Rusty Cage" originally done by Soundgarden and covered by Johnny Cash. The only cover i can listen to right after the original.
