So what's your favorite guitar solo?

    Mines is

    1.Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
2.Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven (of course!)
    3.Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird

Do you agree? Not? Have a better one?

November Rain by Guns N' Roses.

Slash's solo, that is. Not one by the 4 guitarists Axl has in his cruel joke of a band nowadays.

I love what both of you listed, but I have yet to hear anything more awesome than Jimi Hendrix's Star-Spangled Banner from Woodstock.

I'm not sure if it's because I love about all of his music, that I'm a proud American, or a combination of both. I hear the song everyday, it's what plays when my alarm goes off on the BlackBerry each morning.

    1.Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb.......
Especially the version on the Live Wall CD, Is There Anybody Out There

November Rain by Guns N' Roses.

    That is awesome!!!

There are so many to choose from.

However, while not just for the solo itself but the singing and the words and their meaning, I am partial to:

    Stupid Boy by Keith Urban

    Some others:

    - Celluloid Heroes (live) by The Kinks (the opening solo and closing solo)
    - Dear Mr. Fantasy , the live Clapton/Winwood version
    - Fool in the Rain - Zep
    - Roll with the Changes - the opening lick - REO
    - Thorn in my Pride - Black Crowes

    and so many more......

    Hey now.....

If we're going to go with Sax solos, then these two take the cake in my book:

Clarence's solos on Bruce's Born to Run and Jungleland!!!!!

Man... the solo in freebird is awesome, but so is Comfortably numb and stairway.
I'm gonna have to say three way tie.
As far as Hendrix's star spangled banner, it's cool but not top 3 quality imo.

I personally think Synster Gates-from A7X-has some of the best and most in depth solos.

I'll also throw Steve Vai's "For the Love of God" from Passion and Warfare in the mix here. The entire song is one incredible solo, as is usually the case with most of Vai's songs.

I first heard some of his material about ten years ago (I believe it was "The Audience is Listening," also from Passion and Warfare), and I was so taken by it that I bought the album based on that song alone. Then I was so taken by that album that I bought another one. And then another. Now, I have his entire catalogue.

Nice! I'm really liking his work with G3. Satriani, Johnson, and Vai together is some great stuff.
