My first phone was the Kyocera Phantom, on Cellular ONE in North Dakota, then multiple moto's on Cingular. Now I've had 5 Sprint phones, and currently have the Tour.

First phone was the Motorola BRICK the phone that you needed a belt just to hold ur pants up well wearing it and after a few hours your back hurt from it hanging on your belt but that was around 25--30 years ago

Some have posted their current age, so it would be nice if everyone did, gives an idea of what/when. I am 59. It was around '92 and I worked for a company that had designed one of the first, all electric vehicles. It was a conversion car, an '88 (I think) Pontiac Fierro. It got around 40 miles per charge. We installed a mounted mobile phone just in case. I remember one day, riding down the highway when I spotted a beautiful young lady pulled over to the side with the hood up. I pulled over, spoke with her and took a look at the car, but had no idea what was wrong. It was then that I offered her either a ride (the car had "ELECTRIC VEHICLE" painted in huge letters on both sides) or, the use of the mobile phone. She looked at me like "huh? mobile phone?" I handed her the handset...wish I had a picture of the look on her face, it was hilarious!

I don't remember the sequence of phones after that, there were many. But, to this day, an old, LG dumb phone remains the best performing, most durable and reliable, phone I've ever had (and still have...can activate any time)! I dropped it couple of dozen times and it still kept on ticking!

I was 11 when I got my first. It was some clunky(by todays standards) Audiovox flip phone. I was the only kid at my school with a cell phone. Never used it, it was more just about having it then anything.

    I was 15 when I got my first BB, a shiny Storm 9530. I'm 17 now and rocking a 9700.

I was 29 and the first phone we had was an audiovox bag phone (battery optional) with a 30 minute a month plan. About 2 years later we got handheld NEC's and upgraded to a 60 minute plan, didn't think we'd ever use 60 minutes a month. Now my wife and I both have Blackberries and have a 3000 minute everything plan, how times have changed!!

I had a Kyocera that had a black characters on a blue screen and blue backlit buttons. A Model T compared to my Rolls Royce I have in my Tour, that's for true!

I bought a mobile phone during my first post-military job. It was 1993, I was 32 years old, and I got a plan that gave me a whopping *20* minutes per month! My next phone was a bag phone, then a couple of other phones, then a Star TAC, a couple of more phones, before Blackberry came into my life!

It is beyond amazing when I remember that first phone, big and heavy, fixed antenna, and 20 storeable phone numbers.

Compared to todays phones, those early ones were like sending smoke signals!

I am feeling like such an old f*rt here....I deliberately avoiding telling you my first mobile phone was two cans with a string. Hey, those WERE mobile and my buddy and I had one set up that ran about 3 blocks. We worked very hard to maintain tension on the string, no easy task when you're just 10 years old, lol..

When I was 16 I had a Nokia 5160 on AT&T Prepaid (before GoPhone existed). I upgraded at 17 to the gnarly Nokia 5165 so I could download ringtones, and I rocked Aha-Take on Me in glorious monophonic sound. It was otherwise the same phone - I just switched my faceplate from one to the other. I also had a Palm Pilot at the time (not a phone, a PDA)

My first cool phone I just bought in December - my beloved Berry. I really wish I would have ponied up the dough earlier, I have no idea how I lasted this long without a smartphone.

EDIT: I neglected to add I'll be 26 in June, so I've been sporting a mobile communication device since for about 10 years.

I was 19 and it was early 1999. I was home from college visiting for a weekend. On the drive back, I got stuck in a blizzard. I was stranded on the side of the interstate for a couple hours. Back then, whenever I took a trip somewhere I was always supposed to call my parents from my dorm phone when I got back. When I didn't call, my parents were very worried, and I was just as scared there on the side of the road. I finally got back to campus and called my parents and told them what happened. My dad insisted on buying me a cell phone. My first phone was one of those nokias with the changable faceplates and pull-out antennas. I went through a couple of those, some kyocera and motorola flip phones, and in 2007 I was introduced to sidekicks. I loved those phones!!! Then of course came this past October and the big sidekick outage, and that's when I switched to blackberry. The rest, as they say, is history.

I was 15 years old and I had the Kyocera Phantom. No Voicemail, no caller ID. Cheapest calling plan possible, and I could't use it in the house. (That sucked since my phone liked to answer and hang up on people on it's own.)

Now I'm nearly 21. I probably graduated to a blackberry pretty fast, but what can I say? I love my phone. (and I don't know how I managed to keep my life straight before I had my calendar! I'm terribly absent-minded and forgetful.)
