If there is one app that you use a lot and get tired of going through the usual UI to open it....that app is a candidate for a convenience key

since i have been using a friends 8520 since my 8900 crapped out, i have been using the right side for the camera and the left side as a keyboard lock as it doesn't have what the 8900 has on the top.

:P

Anybody using a convenience key/button for their keyboard lock is wasting that key/button. Just hold the A key for 1 second and the keyboard will lock.
