Even though I grew up in a pretty rural area, I am a pretty good stretch further out than I was then. When it gets dark here I call it "serious dark". LMAO! Pastures as far as I can see straight in front of the house. You can see them better, but you can also get worse storms and tornados so it is a trade off.
It is funny how you can think that your mind is pretty blank before you lay down, then lay down and it is like fast forward times 2,000. Ugh! I hate that. Stress makes it a lot worse, but even when times are good sometimes I will sit there and be thinking about the grocery list or some other idiotic thing. I hope you find sleep soon. And if you come across something that works, I'll pay for your secret! LOL!
