    I'd also suggest a genius would want to open his mail folder and then hit the menu key and select view Folder and check each and every folder one at a time, and then check his saved message folder as well to just see if the mail is hiding somewhere.

    That would be good advice if he was missing emails, but he's not. He's having issues with audio notification (ringer), not on screen message notification.

    Ok I'm gonna beat my 11yo son, Patchy--he jumped in the pool with his chocolate1 phone in his pocket--forgot it was there-aft 5 mins pulls it from his pocket with an "OH ISH!!!!" look on his face.....fml! Imagine my face at that moment :/ I've got the thing sittin in a bag of rice now--hopefully it'll work--theres water rolling around "inside" the screen also oh fml!

    I reread the post and was on my way to delete my. Erroneous advice until I saw I was too slow and was already quoted, so maybe someone who's actually having trouble with false notifications will read it and benefit.

    Yes, kids will be hard on phones. My 13 year old daughter's phone history for instance...

    1. Sanyo 8400: Dropped out of the rear window of her mom's car on the free way (still scratching my head on that one). Replaced by insurance, then she lost that one.

    2. Samsung Upstage: Lost....replaced, then lost again. Replaced again, then lost again one more time.

    3. Motorola Razr V9M: Dropped, then replaced. Lost, then replaced.

    4. Samsung Rant: She's managed to hold onto this one because I told her that if anything should happen to this one for ANY reason, she'll have to save up and pay for the insurance deductable herself.
