I'm up all over MI once or twice a year. That's about as close as I've been to Chicago though.

We can all go Jeepin' somewhere in the middle then. Just gonna have to rent a longer equipment trailer, slap it on the Ram's hitch and pull my Heep and yours down that way. One thing I've found with off roading is I'm never going to drive to/from the wheelin spot in what I'm playing in. Too much breakage to want to worry about getting back. Tow rig and trailer is the only way to fly.

What kinda heep do you have Sandman? Yeah, driving your toy to and from is bad news. I still do it though. . Man, I need to hurry and get me a new heep to wheel.

I've got an '06 TJ. 3.07 gears though and stock tires though. Going to throw some 31x10.5s on for now and put an Aussie Locker brand locker in front and back diff. Hopefully they'll hold up to it if I stick with 31s as the biggest I plan to run with these axles.

Ever hit the Silver Lake dunes on Lake MI by Hart/Mears? Fun place. Hoping to get out there this summer sometime.

Yeah Sandman, couple years back I was up visiting my bestfriend up there. He took me out there. I've sold my tj and xj. They were both on 33's locked front rear. I'm down to just a ZJ. About to lift it, but still not sure I want to wheel it. Lookin for a cheap YJ for that.

I've got a 97 TJ with Rubicon tires / rims, and some sort of locker in the rear. Ox Locker maybe?

Never taken my Heep wheeling other than some local mud, but we did stop in Moab and runs Fins and Things in a rental.

Well, come on down. We've got several decent spots around to wheel. Sandman, swing over there and get Jef and get down this way.

That does sound like a good time in the making. I've not been really off roading in a while. Last time I hit the dunes was 6-7 years ago with my old S15 pickup. Have had the Heep through the mud and stuff just not trails.

I've got a new bumper from Rokmen waiting for me to paint and install it as well as an EPi9 - 9000lb winch also waiting to be installed. Working nearly every day isn't really condusive to getting fun stuff done.

Sounds nice Sandman,I suggest in cab winch controls too, very easy to make/install and sure is nice to have on the trails. Did it to both my tj and xj.

Sounds like good advise. I think I'd like to make the "sport bar" system into a full roll cage and mount a panel of switches up top somehow to control lights, the winch, and maybe air lockers when I eventually upgrade the axles and go for 35" tires, which is the end goal I think. Should be able to easily handle anything around here with a setup like that.

. Might try one of those cheap RF wireless winch controllers until ready to do in cab controls.

Cate, I'm doing awsome thanks. And yes, I have felt like I was on cloud 9 before. You feeling that way now?

Sandman, in cab controls can be done for about $25 in parts. I did several of them for friends, so if you need to know what to get or how, let me know. I'm always happy to help

Pretty sure I've got a diagram floating around, and probably enough parts in the barn to do it. Just having trouble deciding where on the dash or seperate switch panel would be best. Thanks for offer though.
