I agree, I would find it difficult to make my living my abusing the system too. If it contributes to the system collapsing in on itself quicker it might be worth a sacrifice though. If only we could convince enough people to try it. The part that sucks is you can't even convince the ones who are doing it that it is wrong/they don't deserve it. They feel the world owes them a living.

what p!sses me off is that our welfare system will pay for families to have up to 7 children!! that's the cut off point!! SEVEN!!!!! and this morning i'm here helping my wife at her spa and i'm listening to these women talk about welfare and one of them told a story about a lady who needed just a little extra help but she was making just a little too much money to fully qualify so the counselor or whatever you call those people told her to just have another kid!! can you effing believe that???

Needs to be a crime for these worthless freeloaders to have additional kids when they're on the dole. There needs to be a requirement to make anyone receiving public assistance do some sort of work. I don't care if it is cleaning up grafitti, sweeping the streets with a broom or some other form of community service. If they're getting money from us, we should get some sort of service in return for it. Public assistance needs to be very short term and still require drug testing and some sort of work in exchange for it. If we make it as big a pain in the behind to be on welfare as it is to work and collect a pay check, maybe more folks might try.

I know I never chime in but..... "Welfare" has dramatically changed.. Recipients must actively job seek or go to school in order to receive it.. And there is a max. Time length that you can be on it... Hi all!!!! Ill get off the soapbox now

It depends on the state. For example, in Utah you can't be on welfare if you're in school unless you work 20 hours a week. But to be on welfare in general there you don't need to be actually looking for a job, just say you are. Heck, you don't even actually need to be in the US legally.

This brings me to another part of the problem: illegal aliens. They come here and mooch off our system, and all the programs set up for citizens who might need a brief helping hand to get back on track. In some states, illegal aliens get free college tuition when US citizens don't even get a discount. This is infuriating. Charge anyone knowingly helping these people a million dollars per incident and make it so nobody will hire them, without work, they'll go home.

Actively looking for work here consists of everything including applying for positions you have no chance at getting given education and experience.

Illegal aliens are a significant drain on the eco@nomy. They go to the ER even for a case of the sniffles and leave everyone else footing the bill, in the form of higher insurance rates, higher bills out of pocket and so forth. They get essentially free procedures that US citizens are forced to spend thousands and even tens/hundreds of thousands on. This isn't even remotely right. We need to make it so undesirable to employers to hire illegals that they stop doing it and they go home.

Sorry, but abuse of the welfare system happens every day. It can be anything from illegals receiving services they don't deserve, people driving late model luxury cars and receiving food stamps/buying better food than I've got a budget for, wearing tons of "bling" and/or better clothes than I can comfortably afford/want to spend. I'm gainfully employed, they get to sit back and let the Government cheese roll in. They even get to be on drugs, while I must submit to a demeaning drug test if I wish to make money for the Government to steal to support these people.

The system is dying because of so many people abusing it, including life long welfare recipients who have nothing wrong with them other than laziness who train their offspring to live the same way.

If this is allowed to continue much longer, the supporting of people who refuse to be productive members of society and giving them freebies based on their "need" at the expense of people who lead productive lives, the system will collapse. I am in favor of doing everything we can to help push it over. I owe no service to anyone, and nobody deserves a living at my expense.
