Went and drove the 'new' van, and it was quite balky during my first and second 'around the block' drives. At low speed, it would just spontaneously stop running. Since it's a '95, no OBD II, so I used an old trick to make the check engine light tell me what was wrong. It gave me the code I expected, EGR valve is hinky.
So, I have Mila taking it in for a new EGR, updated plugs and wires, new distributor cap and rotor, PCV valve, etc. On a hunch, I dropped the new K&N filter in, and the dang thing started running like nothing was wrong. But, fuel is still rich, and EGR controls that.
A lil' TLC, and she'll be well worth the $2900. It was a one-owner with only one minor body tweak to the L fender for a deer clip. Real good record.
