I could be wrong, but I thought Canada celebrated Memorial Day/Decoration Day/Armistice Day (or whatever it is called).

For some reason I never got into desserts or sweets. I prefer peanuts or oranges for snacks. I got some huge oranges when I went shopping. They are the size of grapefruits.

Ok. That's Veteran's Day for us. Honoring all veterans, not just dead ones. Actually, come to think of it, that was called Armistice Day in the past here. Decoration Day was the old name for Memorial Day.

Yeah, aero, it's that weekend already. I was seeing all of the High Scool graduation notices and going holy ! Then I went X 27, and realized it's only 5 more years and the last kid graduates, about the same year my first grandkid does.

The Veterans' groups here have the artificial poppies that they give folks. People make donations for them.

I thought the holiday extended to other countries beside the US, since the real poppies are in the military cemeteries in France, not the US.

I like the little tiny wild strawberries. I've picked them sometimes.

I think it is the artificial strawberry flavour I hate. Strawberry ice cream or strawberry cereal makes me hurl, but I like strawberry shortcake.

There is a cherry tree on my church's property. Nobody picks the cherries. The church is across the street from my apartment building. When the cherries are ripe, I'll pick them off the tree and eat them on the way home after the service. They are the red cherries, which are tarter than the maroon coloured cherries.
