They did a story about it on the news. Apparently her and her husband moved here recently for work because they both lost their jobs where they were living before. Good luck to them finding a job around here.That would kinda stink to be homeless and win a car. She'll still be responsible for the taxes on it, I guess depending on income level in general. Maybe it would still let her stay under the taxable income limit.

I've never been to their little cellphone kIosk/area in there. Thinking about getting some cheap crap prepaid deal and not activating it until needed. Is that even possible?

They are only staying in the shelter until they find a place to fit their budget and get back on their feet financially. I bet she ends up selling the car. The money will cover the taxes and give them a little extra to put in the bank as well.
Yes, you can do that with prepaid phones. I have an old Virgin Mobile one laying around that hasn't been activated in years but if I wanted to use it all I would need to do is buy minutes for it and activate it right from the handset or online.09-16-09 01:46 AM - Do they make you activate/register immediately at the register when buying?
