Those deer must have taken some serious rod and tackle.

Just fly rod and some 6lb line. Key is just let 'em run and tire out, then reel in.

Hi everyone! Sandy, the best deer bait is a pond, . I have deer and elk at my pond all the time. Of course it also attracts a mountain lion every once in a while.

Unfortunately it's neither farmed nor do livestock get kept here, and I don't have quite enough acreage to get a forestry management tax break. Lol.

I would like to plant a few acres of something. Not sure what I'd want, probably rotate through some different stuff. Especially now that baiting deers isn't legal here anymore.

Yep, there's always deers and turkeys and tasty stuff like that around. Have a small (~60'x40'x25'ish deep in middle) pond. There's some bluegill and maybe a bass or two in there.

Haven't seen a ton of bucks around, at least not bigger ones. Wouldn't mind trying to attract some bigger bucks.

40s isn't bad. In July it was in the upper 40s at night and I was sleeping in a drafty tent. Lol. Good times for sure. :d.

where are you Sandy, in Colorado today it's mid 70's for a high and 50's for the low. We can have snowstorms as soon as mid Sept. My daughter was born in a snowstorm on Sept 27, 1996. My place is at 6400 feet above sea level so it can get really cold or really hot this time of the year.
Unfortunately we don't have fish is our pond. It depends on a natural spring for it's water and so the level varies according to the season - it dries up every couple years for a month or so in the winter. But it is pretty here - here's the view from behind the barn:

That is an awesome view! I don't have anything like that to look at, just trees in flat 'ole Midland Michigan. Boring here. My pond was a man made pond, but seems to stay surprisingly full most of the time, although after a really dry summer it can go down a few feet.

This has been a cold year for us. Only maybe a week and a half or so in the mid 80s+ for highs. Usually all of August is pretty stifling with plenty of humidity even.

I've never been to any mountains although will have to make time to check some out and get some photos one of these days. Maybe a Jeep trip out west some day.
